Bailey's POV"Liam freaking Payne! How have you been!?" I exclaim while engulfing him in a huge hug. Liam was my best friend freshman year but his parents sent him to an all-boys boarding school after he almost got a girl pregnant. Yeah, his parents are total control freaks.
"It's been absolute shit at that bloody school." He says as he squeezes me tightly.
Laughing I let him go and we catch up for a bit before class starts. He told me how he met a guy named Niall that has been there his whole life. Niall's parents live in town and he somehow convinced his parents to let him come to school for his senior year. "He seems like a great guy! Can't wait to meet him Li." I say just before I'm cut off by the teacher
"Alright class settle down, I have written your first assignment on the board. Please take out your notebooks and get started. Bailey can I get you to pass out the syllabus." Of course she picks me. I stand up with very little enthusiasm and grab the papers off her desk. As I'm passing one out to every student I scan every ones face. I've never seen any of these people before. Is the school really that big?
I finally get back to my seat and begin my assignment. I look up at the board and see only one word, fear.
My first thought is to write a song, I'm pretty good at it any way. I open my book to the first page and begin brainstorming ideas.
I am so focused on my song that I don't even realize class is over until Liam taps my shoulder, "Hey busy bee, it's time to go." Shocked I quickly grab my stuff and we walk out together.
"You looked really focused in there. Mind if I read what you wrote?" Liam looked at me hopefully.
"I-It's not ready yet."
"That's what you always say. Come on B please?" He begged.
"Yeah, B please?" I look to my right to see that Dakota has joined us.
"H-hi Liam" Dakota has always had a major crush on Liam. She's been wanting me to set her up but I don't like to get in the middle of relationships, even if it's your two best friends.
"Hey." He said simply. He gave a small wave a turned to corner, headed to his next class I assume.
"God he is so hot." Deciding not to make a comment on that we continue our way second period, or as I like to call it, hell.
We walk into Mr. Meek's math class and prepare ourselves for a long period. Mr. Meek has been our Math teacher for three years. We were able to escape him last year, but this year we weren't so fortunate. He begins to speak in his monotone voice about how this year is going to be blah blah blah. Deciding I have already had enough of his voice I put my head down and drift to sleep.
"Ms. Turner. Ms. Turner!" I'm jolted awake and faced with Mr. Meek. Shit. "Is my class boring to you Ms. Turner?"
"Uh..." I stutter looking for some help from my classmates but to no avail.
"You know, your sister, never acted this way in my class. You should try being more like her," he says as he walks away shaking his head in disappointment. Dick.
Watching Mr. Meek talk about what we were going to be doing tomorrow with hatred. How dare he compare me to my sister! I'm so tired of people comparing me to her. We are polar opposites yet I am supposed to be just like her? I'm never going to live anywhere else but her shadow and I have come to terms with that.
The rest of second and third period passed by pretty fast. It was finally time for my favorite class, English. I'm really glad that I have this class last, at least I have something to look forward to everyday. I walk in and take my usual seat in the back. Taking out my notebook and one of my three pencils I get prepared for the class.
I see Jackson walk through the door and glance at the seat next to mine and then he slightly shakes his head as if getting rid of a ridiculous thought and walks to the other side of the room.
I mean I know we aren't that close but still.I begin writing more of my song from this morning when I feel a presence next to me. I don't bother to look up until I hear someone clear their throat. Looking to my left I see a guy that I don't think I've ever seen before. He has beautiful green eyes that sort of sparkle, messy brown curly hair but he somehow makes it work, and a dimple that pops out as he's giving me sort of a side smile.
"Do you have a pencil I can borrow?" He says while leaning in a bit. I can smell his cologne which smells like mint and-wait what did he need? Oh.
"Yeah." I dig around in my bag grabbing a pencil handing it to him.
"You know, you should try to come more prepared next time." I say winking at him. He laughs and takes the pencil from me setting it on his desk. He reaches his hand across the space between his desk and mine.
"I'm Harry."
"Bailey," I say reaching my hand out to shake his. The moment I grabbed his hand it feels like something like heat or electricity or something like that, I don't know it was weird
"Bailey. I like it." I like the way he says my name. How have I never meet this guy before. Where has he been?
"Everyone calls me B."
"B." He looks at me and smirks. I just laugh and shake my head.
"How come I've never seen you around before? Are you new?"
"Yeah, I moved here with my mum this past summer." Ah, so that's where he's been.
Just as I was about to ask him something else Monica walks up to us with a huge smile. "Hey baby!" She squeaks and she bends down to give Harry a kiss.
Oh.
Harry kisses her back half-heartedly and gives her a small smile.
"Oh Bailey, I didn't see you there. I see you've met my boyfriend Harry." Of course she's dating him, he's fresh meat. Don't get me wrong Monica is a sweet girl but she dates around.
"How did you two love birds meet?" Monica was eager to tell me all about how he moved into the house across from hers and how their parents became friends and how they hit it off so well.
She looks at Harry and starts telling him about me? Which was weird but whatever.
"Bailey is Kacy Turner's sister, she is like a queen here. She was the first sophomore to be crowned prom queen, dated the hottest guy in school AND got into Harvard." I stand corrected she's talking about my sister not me. My face falls a little bit at the mention of Kacy.
Harry notices and is about to say something when Mrs. Burges walks in and begins the class.
I look up at the board and think about how much I'm going to hate this class. Monica is my sisters' biggest fan and is always telling me how great she is.
This year is going to suck.
