(Fields of Gortha)

(Four hours After the battle)

It felt like an eternity of silence when standing in the middle of corpses and blood. This feeling was making him too uneasy and it could either or not be said the same for the maiden, who was standing there with her back in front of him, staring the skies.

Markham called out as he began to approach her. He felt he want to cheer her up a little.

His sister didn't answer, instead, she kept on staring the skies. Her scarlet hair kept on swaying in the air, beautiful as ever. As he stood at her side, he found her grieving.

"Hey...?" Markham placed his hand on her shoulder. "Are you well?"

Sinhana shook her head "I would be lying if i am."

He narrowed his eyes "You're thinking about them, aren't you?"

"I can't bear it" She clicked her tongue and placed her hand on her chest, then closed it into a fist. She was angry and desperate. "How many more of our own countrymen will have to die in a dispute anyway?"

Markham turned his head and scanned the field. So much strewn bodies were lying on the ground. Sinhana's forces roughly massacred ninety thousand men and top of that, they fought their own countrymen.

"No. That's not what i should say. After all, it's not my place to say these things." She said roughly. Well, of course, She was the one or rather her brother, started this. If not for the rushing anger that, she would make preparations for something about her brother instead of marching inside the beast mouth and declare war, which led to the deaths of many or their brother going to far in murdering the Emperor.

Markham smiled sadly. Sinhana snorted as she saw his expression "What-?"

"Sometimes you need to do what it takes." Markham stared the crows gathering on the sky.

Her face relaxed a little but no words came out from her mouth. Only silence but Markham continued "War is not a joke and sacrifices are always necessary."

He placed his hand on her shoulder and that made her look at him in the eye. "You do already know that, Sister."

Her expression changed. Her face darker "And kill my own countrymen? I slaughtered so many of them! I am no mor-"

He slapped her but not because he wanted to but because he wanted her to snapped out of it. In order to achieve the righteous thing in life or even the darkest thing in life, you need to stand straight strong. If one is already ahead, he shouldn't turn his back hence it will ruin everything.

Sinhana held her face where she was slapped and sudden tears began to come out. "How da-"

"Snap out of it!" Markham growled. He couldn't accept the words she was about to say "Don't say that you're no better than Alexandroz! Don't you dare ever fucking say it!"
