"There is no more news on the missing boy Luc-"
The TV screen went black as I jabbed the remote with my index finger. I could not control the steady flow of tears streaming down my face, like a waterfall. I wish they could stop going on about him. I guess that it's not everyday a 14 year old boy goes missing in a quiet city. But he is no normal boy. My best friend could never be normal. We were inseparable, but there is no getting him back now. He's gone.
*Flashback to when they were seven years old*
"Hi I'm Lucas," the tall, blonde boy sitting beside me said. "I think Dr. Owl put us together for the rusting nail project."
"I'm Chloe." I replied with a shy smile.
*End of flashback*
I sighed. That day brought back so many memories and laughs. As I buried my head in my silk pillow, I thought about how much I miss him. I wish he never got detention that day. Why did he have to talk in Chemistry that day?
We became best friends after that day when we were seven. No one could ever separate us. But that is where I was wrong. My mind drifted away to the after-school detention that Lucas was given by Dr. Owl.
Dr. Owl is a short, balding, chubby man who has always seemed quite suspicious to me. He has a love for science and acids and has 3 cats, who quite frankly, look extremely underfed and ill. He seems quite friendly with the geography teacher, Miss Burns who we all call Miss OverBurnt. I always see them together in school-time: walking along the never-ending corridors, eating lunch and chatting away about us children.
*Flashback to a couple of months ago*
"Henrietta tuck in that shirt!" He boomed across the narrow corridor.
"Yes sir." Henrietta squealed as she tightly tucked in her blouse.
"DON'T ANSWER BACK TO ME!" he screamed, getting quite a few scared glances from pupils going to their next lesson. " THAT WILL BE A DETENTION." His manner dropped as he and Miss Burns shared a glance and a giggle.
"Mmm I've never tasted a ginger before." Miss Burns mumbled.
*End of flashback*
The wooden stairs creaked as my mum plonked herself on to every step. " Hunny that poor young girl Henrietta from your school is still missing. First her, then Luc-
"Please mum I don't want to talk about it, i cant bear to see his face on the news any more.
"I'm sorry hunny I didnt mean to make you upset. I just wanted to let you know your father and I are going out to see Melissa and Paul. Are you okay staying home on your own you are welcome to come if you want to. "
" Yes mum, i'm fourteen years old I'm pretty sure i can take care of my self" I say as I roll my eyes.
"Ok then, we are on our mobiles if you need us, just give me a shout."
"k bye have fun. love you."
"Love you too hunny.
