"Lotus, hurry up!" My father yelled from the landing at the bottom of the stairs.
"But dad it's so cold outside!" Said from my warm spot next to the heater, my mom came in the door and gave me the "get your butt outside" look, so I stood up and came down the stairs. The moment I stepped out the door I could feel myself sinking into the snow.
"Quick snow!" I yelled. My father started to dig me out. The snow was so cold.
"Don't be such a baby." I whipped my head around to see my younger sister Taylor walk out of the house and into the car. She stood with hands on her hips just outside the car door.
"Besides there's no such thing as quick snow it's called a snowdrift!" She said sassily. I glared at her as she climbed into her seat.
"Yet I'm sinking!" I called as the door closed. My father lifted me out, I shook the snow off my boots and walked to the car. I reached for my door when I noticed something on the a ground, a strange silver locket! I picked it up and turned it in my gloved hands. It had a curly design etched on it but the latch was broken.
"Lotus!?" My whole family cried in unison.
"Did you plan that?" I grumbled, climbing into the car with the with the locket securely in my coat pocket.

While driving we passed cars that were stuck in traffic jams. I was happy I wasn't one of them.
"Hey Taylor are you exited?" I asked bouncing in my seat. I was so exited for this a week in New York for my moms fashion line it was gonna be AWSOME!.
"For what a week away from my friends, oh yah that's gonna be real fun!." She said twirling her finger in the air. I ignored her sour attitude, I wasn't about to let her ruin is for me. Now I've been all over the world but never to New York, this is my chance to meet tons of people since mom and dad are planning to move there.
We entered a tunnel and everything went very dark, except for a small glowing light at the side of the tunnel. I could feel the locket in my pocket getting really hot. I pulled it out and it was glowing.
"Honey do you think that is a car, it may need assistance!" My mother said concerned. My dad turned the car to the side of the tunnel, towards me the light, that's when we crashed.
