In the Shadows

Chapter 5

We left the diner around 8:30 and drove off in the direction of my house. I was anxious. I didn't know what I had just gotten myself into. It wasn't to late to go back but I wanted to be by his side. I had to trust him now.

He drove up into the drive way of my Spanish styled house. It dawned on me that this was the last time I'd see my house. I was terrified of leaving my family. We've never been close but I love them unconditionally.

"Wait here I'm just gonna pack a bag"
"We've only got about an hour left don't take too long" he said his voice was deep and strong.

I walked in and felt the tension in the room immediately. Mom and dad were sitting down at the kitchen table discussing something.
"Sweetie could you come join us?" mom said.
"What's this about? I've got a lot of homework that isn't gonna solve itself" Lies again.
"This will be quick Natasha. Your father and I have been talking and we've decided to get divorced." She couldn't even look me in the eye.
"Are you kidding? It's my fault isn't it."
"No it's not. Don't ever think it's your fault, honey. It hasn't been working out for you're mother and I. It's for the best"
"It's best for you guys what about me? What about how I feel?"
I felt so betrayed. They always made it seem that they would never leave my side. How ironic after I just thought about how I would miss them. Fuck that. How could they do this to me! I stormed up to my room.
My crying turned into loud unsteady sobs. This gave me more of a reason to leave.
I packed a bag with clothes and my journal. I was gonna leave for good.

I went downstairs to find them arguing over me. Great yet again my fault.
"Hey where do you think you're going young lady!?"
"Piss off dad, you guys are making my life worse than it already is!"
"Get back he-"
The cold air brushed against my wet golden complexion as I stormed out. Alex was gazing at me worried.

"Natasha this is the last time you will hurt like this again. Once you leave you will see what you're destiny is."
"Just drive off before they come after me"
I didn't recognize where we were going. Alex parked the car at the side of a road next to the woods. My heart physically hurt and I felt like I was dying. My energy was gone and the weightless feeling came back.

I started to see black spots in my vision and my hearing was diminishing. Alex came over to the passengers side and grabbed me. I looked up at his glorious face. I wanted to kiss him but I was slowly running out of control over my body.
He must of read my mind. He held my right cheek in his hand and he kissed me.

My body was filled with a cooling sensation and his energy burst through me ripping up every single vein in my body. It hurt so good and I couldn't get enough. I no longer felt weak I felt powerful. I kissed him back passionately. He put me down and I wrapped my hands around the back of his neck. He gripped my waist and continued to press his lips against mine. I started to spasm. Everywhere he touched me my nerves would go into over drive and it felt so good. He planted strong kisses all over my neck leaving me with his dark blue marks.
He pulled back and we caught our breath.
I felt ashamed of myself because I let him do such wondrous things to me only after hours of meeting.

He took my hand and put it to his chest.
"That is how powerful you can become. What just happened is in our blood our nature. I was able to heal you because I shared my energy with you. Soon you'll able to do once the ritual has been done"
"The ritual? What's that?
"Once we cross over you'll be answered all the questions you have"

I grabbed my things and we walked through the dark shadowy tress until we reached a lake. The stars were glistening in the reflection of the water making it look like a mural. At this moment I knew that this was the best choice I could of taken.
