Space & Secrets (Chris Beck x Reader)

Chapter 4

It has been 2 months since I went on my first date with Barry. He loves Pete and spends most of his time with us. Being with him makes me forget about Chris. Speaking of Chris, he should be on the way back to Earth. I also told him to 'go for it' with Beth, and stopped replying to his emails. It's not like it matters anyway, I am with Barry and I have Pete to worry about.

I am sure that Chris will be surprised when he meets Pete, I'll just tell him that he is Barry's son. I can't ruin his future with Beth.

"Hey gorgeous," Barry said as he walked into our apartment and kissed my cheek. He then walked over to where Pete was in his highchair and kissed the top of his head.

"Hey Barry," I said and went to the kitchen and started cooking. I felt arms wrap around my waist and a chin placed on my shoulder. 

I giggled, "Do you want me to burn myself, Barry?"

He chuckled, "We wouldn't want that." He walked away and went to pick Pete up.

"We have to talk after dinner," Barry said with Pete in his arms.

"About what?" I asked and looked at him from the kitchen.

"About Pete," He said and I froze. I haven't told him who is Pete's real father. 

"O-okay," I said and continued cooking.

~After Dinner~

Barry and I sat on the couch after putting Pete in his crib. 

"So, who's Pete's father?" He asked.

"My best friend, Chris Beck," I said as my eyes filled with tears.

"You had a child with your best friend!?" He said and had a shocked expression on his face.

"When I found out I was pregnant we had broken up," I said and a tear rolled down my face.

"How long had you guys been together and why did you break up?" He asked.

"We had been together for two years and we broke up because he went to Mars, it wasn't a bad break up," I said as I tried to lighten the mood.

"Wait, Mars? You mean you had a child with Chris Beck, the astronaut?" He asked still shocked.

"Yes, I did, but he doesn't know he has a child because he left for Mars and I didn't want him to feel like he needed to stay," I said and kept crying.

"Why didn't you tell him? He has a right to know about his own child, he should've stayed," Barry said with anger.

"I couldn't ruin his dream, Barry," I said.

"What were you going to tell him when you got back," He said standing up now.

"I would tell him Pete was yours or that he came out of a one night stand," I said.

"You're crazy," Barry said and grabbed his jacket and waled to the door.

"I'm sorry, I don't want to ruin his life once he comes back to Earth," I said and stood up.

"No, (Y/N), I'm sorry. I can't do this if my girlfriend is in love with someone who might die in space," he said.

"Die in space? Don't say that! I'm not in love with him, Barry, he doesn't know about Pete and he will never know! He has fallen in love with someone else and I won't ruin that for him," I said my anger clearly shown in my facial expression. 

"You know what? We're done I can't deal with your drama," he said and walked out the door, slamming it after him.

I heard Pete start to cry, 'asshole' I thought as I walked to Pete's room to calm him down. My phone vibrated in my back pocket as I held Pete in my arms.

I pulled it out and saw that it was an email from NASA so it must be from Chris, 'what is it now?' I thought as I opened the message.

'(Y/N)! Why haven't I heard from you? I asked my mother about you and she said that she hasn't seen you since I left. What's wrong? Is it about me and Beth?  If you have something against us being together then we are going to have a serious talk. Have you been out with anyone? Mags told me you went out with a cop, how is that going? Hope your life isn't much different since I left. Please reply, Okay?'

A tear slid down my face and I wiped it away. First of all his mother is really sweet and seeing her reminds me of Chris and I don't need that right now. Pete is my only priority.

After a long time of considering replying or not, I decided I had nothing to lose.

'Sorry, I needed some space. I haven't been able to visit your mother because I've been pretty busy with work these days. Chris, I'm happy for you and Beth, I have nothing against you guys as a couple. And yes, I did go out with a cop, his name is Barry. Believe it or not we broke up right before i received your email, it just didn't work out. And also yes, my life hasn't changed at all since you left. I'm sorry for being distant, I'll try harder to reply. Come back soon.'

Well there were obviously some lies in there. Barry was right, I'm still in love with Chris but he doesn't need to know that...

Life sucks.
