"GOOOO MIGHTY TROJANS!!" The band yells into the night air while the drum line plays. The drum major cuts the band off and you obediently remove your sticks from your drum head.

You look to Isaac, who has a small slip of paper out, bearing down on his knee and writing with a pen. You study him - his facial expression, his hair, his eyes, even the light blush across his cheeks from the hot band uniform. You wonder what he's writing about and what he thinks about when he's so quiet. He doesn't really talk that much, only if he knows exactly what to say at the right moment.

You realize you're staring at him and force your eyes down to your hands, twirling your drumsticks around as a shade of red crept up over your cheekbones. From the corner of your eyes, you see Isaac finish his writing and tuck the paper away into his pocket, just as the conductor holds up a sign that says 'Hey Baby' on it. You once again look at Isaac who has a silly grin spread across his face, his brown eyes almost smiling, but with a hint of some kind of nervousness in them. Once again the unreadable expression of what seemed like sympathy spread across his face. The drum major counts you off and the band starts to play their part, then the guys start to sing while the girls dance.

"HAAAYYY, BAAABAAAY!! I GOTTA KNOOOO-OOO-OOO-OOOOOO... WILL YOU BE MY GIRL?!" They sing. Next, the girls sing.

"HAAAYYY, BAAABAAAY!! I GOTTA KNOOOO-OOO-OOO-OOOOOO... WILL YOU BE MY GUY?!" You sing with the girls. The band finishes, puts down their instruments, and the normal buzz of chattering students erupts.

"I'll be back in a minute, kay?" Isaac says. You nod as he quickly jumps down from the bleachers and walks into the crowd. What is he doing...?

A few minutes later your eyes catch a quick flash of the familiar spiky brown hair above the cheering high-schoolers standing in the bleachers. Isaac came by and stood in his spot next to you, holding a bag of Skittles he was eating.

"You seriously went through all of that trouble just to get a bag of Skittles?" You ask with a smile. He sits there and thinks about it.

"Yes." He said seriously, earning a small laugh from you. "Want some?" He asks holding out the bag to you. You stick two fingers in the small bag, feeling around for tiny little candies, but unexpectedly touching what feels like paper.

"I think there's something in your Skittles..." You say, pulling out a slip of paper which was folded in half. You unfold it, reading the letters messily scrawled out in pen.

Hey baby,

I gotta know,

Will you be my girl?

-Your Only Friend

You read the short but sweet note over and over again, trying to comprehend what was in front of your very eyes. You look up at Isaac, who is looking as nervous and awkward as ever, but with a little hope in his eyes.

"Are... Are you serious?" You say with disbelief. Suddenly, his eyes grow cloudy and his cheeks go red, making it look like he was about to cry any second.

"I... Thought you might say that..." He says, looking down at his feet. You stare at him in shock, your mouth hanging slightly open.

"Don't speak to soon. I wasn't going to say no, silly." You say. You wrap your arms around his neck in a huge bear hug, trying not to squeeze him to death. You smile into his shoulder. He tenses up for a few seconds, but wraps his arms around your waist as he relaxes, pulling you closer.

"So is that a yes?" He asks quietly.

"Nope. It's a definitely, if that makes sense." You reply, smiling so wide your lips might just split into.

"That makes perfect sense." He says. You pull away and look up at him happily, a smile on his face and that same look etched into his expression that somehow appeared sympathetic. Only, it wasn't sympathy. No, it couldn't be.

It was adoration.

For you.
