Finn and I walked to the coffee shop just across the street from campus. The huge sign reading Stella's illuminated the early morning sky as the green eyed boy held the door open for me. I gave him a smile and walked in.

We sat at a booth across from each other. None of us said anything. To my luck, it started to rain, and I looked at Finn quietly as he laid his head against the window and carefully watched the raindrops fall.

"Like the rain?" I asked.

Finn nodded. "It's calming."

"It is, isn't it?" I whispered and stared outside myself. Finn wasn't wrong; the rain was calming. I felt like sleeping now. I was over school already and the day had barely begun.

"So what's your major?" Finn asked as he sat back up.

"English," I said, "what about you?"

"Same." He grinned, and he almost looked like a child. "I wanna be a journalist or something. Maybe a sports column writer. I don't know."

"That's cool," I nodded.

"Writer?" He asked and I nodded again.

"Let me guess," Finn continued and thought for a moment, "romance?"

"And mystery and fiction." I listed them off and he seemed impressed. A lady walked over to our table and grabbed a pen from behind her ear.

"Hi, my name is Bailey and I'll be your server today. Can I get you guys some drinks to start with?"

"We'll just have two expressos to go, please." Finn smiled politely at her and the girl nodded, scribbling down our orders as she walked off.

"I hope you know you're not paying for my coffee." I told Finn as I fished through my bag for my wallet.

Finn tsked. "Now what kind of first impression would that be?"

The waitress came back with two cups. Finn paid for the both of us and she wished us a good day as we grabbed our drinks and left the café.

"So how come I've never seen you around here before?" I looked up at Finn.

"Just moved here from Baltimore." He sighed as he stuffed a hand in his pocket. "Wanted a fresh start, you know?"

I shrugged. "I guess."

"What about you?" Finn smiled at me, and I noticed a small dimple in his left cheek. "Lived in Winnipeg your whole life?"

"Born and raised." I said. "Out of all places to move, you choose Winnipeg?"

Finn shrugged, his smile growing wider. "I like the snow."

I gasped at him. Someone actually liked the snow in Winnipeg? "You're ridiculous." I chuckled.

"Ridiculously adorable?" Finn wiggled his eyebrows at me.

I giggled. "Yeah, whatever."
