Angry and sad tears were making their way up, but I pushed them back before getting up to the restroom to get cleaned up. The last thing I remember was arguing with my father and then everything went black, but I had felt Angelo carrying me to the room because I heard him trying to wake me up.

"Honey!" I heard my mother calling for me.
"I'm coming" I respond back while walking back to the room. My mom was sitting down at the corner of my bed and looked worried. I guess if I was her, I would be worried as well that I would have to give my daughter to a mafia don, so she can be under the mafia protection.

"How are you feeling!? I brought you some pills and water so your head won't hurt" my mom explains and sets the bottle of pills and the glass of water in the nightstand.
" Mom some pills won't make this pain go away and I'm not just talking about a headache, I'm hurting mother...I'm hurting really bad" at this point I start sobbing and my mom hugs me and rocks me back and forth, trying to calm me down.

"I'm so sorry darling, I wish I can take your pain away I really do Gianna, but I rather have you get married with Angelo than being killed by the mafia" she says. I notice my mothers eyes are watery and it's strange because never in my life I've seen her cry or weak. She has always been that strong women, the women every little girl would want to be like when they grow up.

" It doesn't make sense mother, you're telling you don't want me to be killed by the mafia, but you and dad are making me marry Angelo who is the head of the Moretti family, the most dangerous mafia group in Italy" I exclaim.

Either way, I am going to be in danger. I just can't believe how my father would have made business with the mafia. No one in their right mind would make business with the mafia or even owe them a big amount of money.

"Oh darling...there's a lot of things you don't know about the Milton and Moretti family. To be real with you, you have been living in a nutshell your entire life" she responds while wiping the tears off my checks.

"What do you mean!?" I confusingly ask.

I don't know what she means, I have known that our family and the Moretti's had business together and that our families were really close, but that's about it. I didn't know that my father was in the mafia...that I was part of the mafia.

"Shh, don't interrupt. Your father was in the mafia, he was Marciano's right hand, Angelo's father. I married him knowing what was I getting myself into. Once Luca and you were born he decided to leave, it was a difficult process but we made it out. Although he had stepped down, once you're in the mafia you're really never out because you gain enemies everywhere. That's what happen, your father had enemies everywhere, he got tricked and ended up in a conflict with our biggest rivals. Since then he contacted Marciano, Angelo's father, but since he stepped down Angelo helped your father, but with a condition that he would have you once you turn 18." My mom finished explaining and I couldn't believe it. I had my life planned out already by the Mafia and I wasn't aware of anything.

All my entire life, they knew I wouldn't be able to be with Kyle and they never said anything. I know they all did this to protect Luca and I, but why? Why me? Why my family?

"Mom I don't want to live this life" I said
"There's nothing you can do Gianna...sweetie your father wouldn't have made the deal with Angelo if we didn't trust him, but we do. We know Angelo will take care of you no matter what, you will be under his protection and there is nothing to worry about. Luca will be working with Angelo and will have to learn how the Mafia works" my mom kept telling me that everything will be fine, that there will be nothing to worry about, but she forgot something.

"Mom?" I said

"Yes sweetie?" She looked me in the eyes, I could see it. My reflection in her eyes and there was fear.
