two weeks passed extremely quickly. all the drawings and paintings were up on the walls, the artists were roaming around the building to waste time, and cassie was scrolling down her phone as she was sat on a bench outside.

it took her quite some time to curl all her hair, but she had nothing to do otherwise. when her art teacher called for her, she went inside and folded her arms together, gazing at everyone's work. they were beautiful and creative to say at least, building up the love for art she already had.

"hey." a voice said beside her, making her turn her head to the side and smile softly.

"hey, steff." she greeted steffy back, glancing up at the painting. "is this yours? it's amazing."

"thanks. i'm pretty in awe about yours too. it's... not what we expected, but it's beautiful." steffy grinned, tucking some of her auburn her behind her ear.

"yeah, i figured that much." cassie scrunched her nose up and fully turned around.

"oh, they're letting people in." steffy grinned, half-turning around. "there's vanessa."

"hey, i was supposed to scare her!" vanessa pouted, placing herself between the two. "wow, steffy. i knew you were a good painter, but not this good."

"mhm." steffy chuckled, looking down at the floor. aneksi rolled her eyes with a stupid smile and started walking with vanessa through the place, toward her own work since she had to stand there.

"is that–" vanessa started, pointing at one of the paintings.

"yeah." cassie mumbled, fiddling with her fingernails. "where's alex?"

"she said she'd be here soon. she got a call and said it was important, so." the blonde one answered with a soft smile and examined the paintings on the wall. "your art is so... rough. i love it." she added as she scrunched up her nose.

cassie laughed as she folded her arms together and silently agreed. she wasn't much for soft and melting drawings. she had grown up simply being rough in her art, not being too detailed either. however, she always made sure there was an evident message or point with her work. it made her feel sort of accomplished.

"heard anything from matt?" cassie asked quietly, glancing at vanessa. she licked her bottom lip inside her mouth and turned to face her friend.

"i haven't seen him all day. i just know he has a big game coming. but he should be here any minute now." vanessa said softly, giving her a look of empathy. "i mean, he can't miss this. you even drew him."

"do you think that's lame?"

"i think it's beautiful, cassie." she retorted quickly but genuinely, caressing cassie's arm briefly. "and i think it's smart. you drew him as if he was walking away, so you can see his profile — barely — and then his back. if you two had broken up, no problem. this could be anyone."

"you're such a genius, nessa." cassie deadpanned until she cracked a wide grin and shook her head. vanessa sassily tilted her head to the side with tired eyes before pursing her lips and peering behind cassie's shoulder.

"there's alex."

"the queen has arrived." alex exhaled with a smirk, hands in her back pockets. "with a peasant."

"excuse you?" a familiar voice scoffed from behind the blue eyed girl. cassie frowned as she stepped forward, followed by her smiling in disbelief.
