My name is Thea and I'm a normal girl who lives in district 6, well at least to us it's normal.
I live with my mother, father and brother Thomas in an old cabin. I go to school everyday and talk with my friends. I'm 17 years old, so I'm still in school. This is the last year for Thomas, the last time his name is going to be in the bowl. I think his name is going to be written eleven times and mine just five times.
The reaping is in two weeks and it's been the only subject in school and in between my friends, me myself would rather not talk about it.
----------------------------------------------I'm sitting in class writing notes while my teacher talks about who knows what. I can here the two girls behind me whisper and bet who in this class would most likely get chosen. I try to ignore them but the name they said ticked to my head. Rose. Why would they chose her? She is the most quiet girl in class, never talks, always does her homework. Finally our teacher shoves us out of the classroom and we can go home. I find my mother washing some dishes at the sink when I get home and I ask her for my brother, apparently he hasn't gotten home from school yet. I sit down and wait for him, he should be here any minute...
After waiting 40 minutes I finally get tired and decide to go look for him myself.
I go back to school but he is nowhere to be seen in the courtyard and the gates are closed so I go to the other place I can think of him being in, Nicks home.
