It's been 2 weeks since school started up again. The same boring classes, the same stereotypical High School groups. The only class I seem to look forward to anymore is English despite the fact the my English teacher Mr Roberts is a giant douchebag and seems to manage to see flaws in all of my work, no matter how confident I feel with it.

"So you haven't done the Biology homework?" A voice to my left asks, scaring me out of my daydream. Harley. Looking over at my best friend I notice the deep bags under her eyes and the obvious lack of makeup.

"What makes you ask that?" I ask considering I had the homework finished 3 days ago.
"You look as though you're about to have a mental breakdown" she replies, funny I thought the same thing when I saw her.
" No, I finished it days ago but by the looks of things I'd say that you didn't get much sleep last night because of it" taking time to look at her outfit choice. Grey baggy jogging bottoms and a loose white tank top which is weird as Harley is always making sure she looks good in case a new boy shows up and takes interest in her.

"That obvious huh? I didn't understand any of it and I would have called you to ask but Mum took my phone off of me because I went over the bill, and I didn't have time to get dressed up today cause I only had an hours sleep last night and uhhhhhhh" she rambled on

The world around me begins to turn dark beginning at the corners of my sapphire eyes. The harsh whispers of demented voices rattle around in my head. They urge me to follow them, the words "Come with us and you will learn the truth behind living" bang against my ear drums intimidating me.

It's not until I hear the splintery voice of Mr Roberts that I realise that 1st period has started and I have no recollection of how I got to his classroom.  "Like I told you yesterday we will be discussing the themes and characters of The Old Man And The Sea by Ernest Hemingway" his voice prickling at the ever growing headache coming on since I zoomed back in again. For this lesson I have decided to not focus on it as much because I have already studied the themes of this novel, so I sit back and try to calm the pulsing in my brain.

"Tell me Miss Asola one of the themes from The Old Man and The Sea?" The sound of my name being called jolts me awake. Of all of the classes I could have fallen asleep in today it had to be the one where the teacher despised me. Behind Mr Roberts I realised that he had written down the answer in which he had received and were correct, he already had up The Honour in Struggle, Defeat and Death. "Another theme would be Pride. Pride would be considered Santiago's Achilles heel. But though Pride is one of his flaws he still manages to achieve greatness. So without his pride he wouldn't have been able to achieve what he had so it is Both a flaw and a blessing" Hoping that my answer would have gotten me off with falling asleep in class was an idiotic idea. With hesitance he replied "Correct but if I catch you asleep in my class one more time Miss Asola it will be Detention for you." I nodded my head and then lowered it in shame as I heard the snickers from the back of the class.
