The next morning I was woken up by a force hitting my nose really hard. My eyes shot open, me readying myself to fight my attacker when I came face to face with the intruder. Laney must of snuck into my bed whilst I was sleeping as I could now see a mess of blond hair and some mini mouse pyjamas with her limbs sprawled about including an arm laying across my face. For such a small kid she was taking up three quarters of my bed. She did look cute though so I'll give her points for that. I did see something that worried me, she was really red and her breathing was heavy. Since Laney had been left in my care, me and my parents had discovered small little quirks that she did on regular occasions. At first we didn't think much of it but these 'quirks' became a problem one night when she had an asthma attack. Since then I've been cautious when she gets like this. Making a quick decision I thought it best she didn't go to preschool today.
With that in mind I sent off a text to Natalie asking wether it would be okay to bring Laney into work with me. It wasn't ideal but it was worth a shot. I really did hate leaving her when she wasn't feeling well and we had a system of her basically not leaving my side, purely for comfort reasons.
I saw the time and knew we needed to get up now and rush to get ready. She wasn't responding to my taps, pokes or polite questions of wether she was getting up so I simply carried her to her room to get ready. She eventually woke up and bound into action automatically, how she did that I'll never know. I need two cups of coffee before being polite to the mailman. Even when ill, Laney always makes an effort. I received a reply from Nat saying that was fine with her along as she didn't get in the way of working with Fifth Harmony. Once I read this I informed Laney and she looked like it was christmas morning.
Laney decided she wanted to dress up really nice for the girls the studio today and I just couldn't refuse. That is a common occurrence in this house, me not being able to refuse my little princess. I think she is well aware of this fact and uses it against me but I'm willing to let that go unnoticed. She searched through her extensive wardrobe to find a white knee length sundress that she paired with a pair of yellow sandals and a matching hairband. For a three year old she really knew about fashion, I have a feeling thats what she'll want to go into when she's older but thats entirely up to her. As Laney was now packing her Dora the explorer backpack with a colouring book and stuff to keep her entertained for the day, I went and had a quick shower then changed into a pair of back jeans, a white under shirt with a blue open shirt on top. Casual but not too casual. That was a positive to my work place, you only had to dress up on important days, today not being one of them. Carrying her downstairs, ready for our departure I remembered to give her a puff from her child's inhaler and to bring it with us, just incase.
Not that I expected anything else but Laney was all smiles when entering the studios lobby. Most people knew her name and greeted her asking her about preschool. Laney was outgoing as always and talked politely to everyone, charming them even more if that were possible. Making our way to the elevator, she insisted that she gets to press the button which she had to jump to reach. On her third attempt we managed to get going. When the doors open we walked hand in hand to studio number 5, the same studio as the day before. Opening the door I realised we were the first people here which is what I intended, even though Laney was used to the offices, I always like to get her settled before the madness begins as it can become pretty busy with lots of producers, artist and managerial staff traipsing around all day. I quickly ran to the small kitchen positioned in the middle of the studios to make us some toast for breakfast.
After fifteen minutes of us sitting snuggled up on the couch eating toast whilst looking at her new sticker book, the door open revealing the ladies of Fifth Harmony looking at us with small smiles. I got up and said good morning to them all, not after getting a small huff from Laney for jogging her when I got up so quickly.
