Zoe's POV
My name is Zoe. Zoe Sheffield. I'm a freshman in West East High School in South Carolina. I live with a mother, father, a little brother, and a cat. We live in an ordinary house that consists of two stories and an attic.
Let's talk about me now. I'm a normal 14 year old girl studying in West East High School. My hobbies? Well I like to bake, play the violin, write stories, and whatever a teenage girl would like to do. But I'm a gamer. Yes, I am. Well I can't really admit that I am, because I never really game as hardcore as the other gamers but.. I'll just say I am. My parents never really like the fact that I game, because they're doctors and doctors are always over-protective when it comes to their kids' health. But at least they still bought me my Razer Kraken headphones.
Now. I assume you're here for my amazing unbelievable journey to The Halcyon Fold. It sounds crazy and impossible because it doesn't exist. Oh but it does. At least in the other realm. Okay, so.. It was a rainy Saturday night on June 11 2016...
The smell of Mom's homemade lasagna always makes my tummy go rage, even when I close my bedroom door the smell always gets me. It was currently 6.47 pm, which means dinner is in thirteen minutes. It was raining quite heavily outside in the dark and soon I was wearing my jacket I recently got from the thrift shop downtown. It's cheap but cozy and warm. Not a bad thing from a thrift shop.
"Dinner's done!" Mom shouted from the kitchen downstairs. "Come down people."
So I went downstairs.
Usually after I get downstairs Mom would ask me to set the table, but we've quite gotten the hang of it so as soon as our eyes met, I already get the signal to prepare the table. I don't take it as a burden actually. Besides, I'm always the first one to go downstairs.
"Hey, Honey! I can already tell that it's lasagna for tonight by the smell of the mozzarella you cooked with that all the love you poured into it," Dad said, giving Mom an I-love-you face and a wink.
"Gross, Dad." I said, without looking up from the table I was preparing.
"Awh come one, kid. One day you'll understand." Dad said. I rolled my eyes.
"Haha. Where's Carter?" Mom asked.
"Here." says Carter, with Felix in his hands (Felix is our cat).
"Carter, put the cat down and wash your hands before you touch anything, please." Mom told him.
We all sat on the dining table together and said our graces before munching the life out of the lasagna. Mom and Dad told us about their work and some funny old jokes, Carter told us how stupid his friend Mike was at school that day and made Mom angry at him in the end, Felix walking around in circles doing whatever he was doing, and I was just there eating and listening and laughing. Just some good family night together. It was nice.
Dinner was then done and Mom decided that she and Dad will do the dishes tonight. It was strange because usually she'd ask me and Carter to do it. They must be thinking of something which I don't look forward to know or even think about. So I head over to my bedroom after I said goodnight and gave goodnight kisses to my parents.
"Wowzers. That was a hella nice meal." I looked over my laptop. "I wonder what Hailey's doing.". I threw myself to the bed where my laptop was and opened it. The first thing I saw was my background with a picture of me and Hailey's selfie back when we went to the beach to spot some hotties, or maybe even get one (but we never really did).
I clicked on Skype to see if Hailey was available or not, but sadly she wasn't. Well, maybe tomorrow. I turned to the clock to see that it was already 8 o'clock, which means I still have two hours to do my homework. So I grabbed my bag to take out my books and-
"Hello, Ms. Sheffield."
"Jesus Christ, what the-" I gasped. "Heck." There was a silence then. "Who are you, how did you get in here, what are you doing in my room, what are you, and what the hell do you want from me?" That turned out to be a normal sentence than a question.
"My name is Kurt. I got here through time and space, or should I say, portal. I am here to take you to the Gameworld by His Highness. I am a mixture of light projectings and codes, which make me look like this, exactly, and I do not want anything from you but your presence in the Gameworld by His Highness." the guy said. He looked like a game of lights and projectings but actual futuristic unhuman projectings that make him look in a form of a boy maybe around his 20's with nicely trimmed brown hair and these weird 'codes' kinda clothes with every little detail perfectly drawn. He looks like a masterpiece of lights.
"Um.. What the heck? I mean, you can't be serious. You're not real. This is not real. It's a dream, right?" I asked, then pinched myself. "Oh God it's not."
"I know you must be very confused right now. Every other mortals were the first time they saw us. We are troops sent by His Highness Himself called the Messengers. We pick up mortals who have been called by His Highness every month to bring them to the Gameworld." Kurt said.
I was literally so confused. "What exactly is a Gameworld? And who is His Highness? God you mean?" I asked. I felt so stupid.
"The Gameworld is a realm outside of the Universe where His Highness calls mortals to by the time they are ready. You see, every mortal has their own Gamepoints which is used to tell whether they are to be called or not. Gamepoints increase as the mortals wins a game. The Gameworld has its own minimum Gamepoints to indicate whether a mortal is ready or not. Like a test. You must get an A to be able to pass. The Gameworld works the same way. Now, His Highness is a God. A Game God. He watches the mortals everyday and write a book for when the mortal is called. Like a biography. This is yours." Kurt said, as he showed me a small nicely carved wooden notebook that says 'Zoe Sheffield'.
By that time I was actually believing and interested in what he was talking about. Maybe it's because of all those fantasy and sci-fi movies I've been watching recently. "So are you going to take me there now? To the Gameworld?" I asked.
"Yes, by His Highness' orders." Kurt replied.
"Well what about my clothes? I can't go there in my PJs. It sounds.. majestic." I said.
"By the time we get there you will be provided with clothes that is suitable there." Kurt said, taking my hand and just magically opened a somewhat portal.
"Wait, wait.. What about my family? If they suddenly realize that I'm gone, things might get messy." I said.
"No more questions for now. I'll tell you more when we get there." He said, lights brightening from the portal. "Here we go!"
"Wait-"
BOOM.
"We're here." Kurt said. "You.. can open your eyes now.."
I carefully opened my eyes that revealed some bright light coming from...
the sky..
"HOLY GUACAMOLE." I said. "IS THIS REAL?"
