L' amour (English)

Chapter 1- Him

He had only spoken a few words to me before trailing off again. He always did that, said very few words then left me hanging and curious about the nonsense that comes out of his mouth.

Unlike all the other times, he had left me speechless. I stood there unable to move as people shoved there way past me.

It was around midnight by now and I had passed out on my studying books, completely asleep and lost in my own dreams.

I was awakened by the sound of purring in my ear.

I opened my eyes slowly, lifted my head and was face to face with a small black and white cat. It's nose was pressed against mine with its eyes shut and it's ears back.

"Mittens..." i mumbled as I pet her, her purring getting louder as she nudged my hand for more pets.

I stood up from my chair, stretching then looking over at the clock. Shit...school starts in an hour I'm so fucked. I thought as I gathered my stuff and shoved them into my backpack.

What was I going to do with only one hour left? I couldn't finish the essay that's for damn sure. The essay was like the size of four dictionaries.

I shuffled my way into the bathroom with clean clothes and set them down on counter.

I turned the knob of the shower on and began undressing. What would I expect today? More nonsense that he had spoken? My mind ached as I tried to wrap myself around the words he spoke.

He would say things such as You never know your true pain until you've smiled through your tears.

What could that mean?.... my mind was boggled by it, I washed up and got out, taking a deep breath.

I got dressed then glanced at the clock with a half hour left. Just enough time left to get to school.

I'm a senior in high school, not so much popular more of an outcast. I was always quiet not really shy.

I hated getting called on, group activities, and all the drama. What more could I say? There was always drama, mostly about the stupidest shit.

Like when Tracy had broken up with Don because he didn't wear the shoes that were 'in' right now.

I left my house and got in my car as I began driving to school. I made it to a red light when my phone had buzzed off.

I grabbed it and read the message. Hey when do you plan on getting here?!? You'll never guess what happened!!

Of course I can count on May to text me every morning with gossip. Knowing that I could care less.

I pulled up in the parking lot and came to a stop, I whipped the keys out and quickly got out and began to walk in to the highschool, gripping my backpack handle as I swung it over my shoulder.

I made my way to my locker as I was stopped by May who had rushed up to me.

"You'll never believe what happened!!!" She said excitedly as she jumped up and down.

"What?" I said in flat tone, obviously uninterested in knowing. "Well, Alex Halford asked me out!!" She squealed.

"Cool. " i replied back as I shut my locker and gazed at her with a gentle smile then made my way to my class.

I sat down in my seat and sighed under my breath. Today had felt different in a way, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it.

It had felt, strange. Gloomy perhaps? I don't think so, it felt like... my heart began to race as my eyes shifted up to him.

His eyes met mine then looking back at his notebook as his hand moved swiftly along with the pen.

It couldn't have felt different because of him, could it? It's always felt the same even if he were here or not. He never mattered anyways, so why start now?

He was the one who had spoken so strangely, but that wasn't it. I was used to it, I was used to his words but I just couldn't understand them.

Later on, it was lunch. The cafeteria was loud as usual, I could barely hear May blabbing on about her and Alex.

In fact, I wasn't even looking at her. My eyes were searching the room for something. I don't know what, but I had felt desire in that moment.

Something is wrong with me today... I thought as I made that pretty clear to myself.
