Brandon and I eventually arrived at the park. The whole walk there, we could not and would not stop talking. I lead Brandon over to the willow tree.
"My brother and I used to play here all the time," I told him. I began climbing the enormous plant. "Coming up?"
Brandon nodded, then he began his ascent. We reached a sturdy branch 1/3 of the way up the tree. We were hidden by the curtain of leaves.
"You know," he said, settling on the branch. "I've always wondered about something." He reached out, and for a second, I believed he was going to kiss me. But instead, he reached behind my head, and slid off the hair tie that kept my wild locks in a braid. My crazy brown hair fell over my face, and he pushed it away.
"Wow," he said, smiling. I felt extremely self-conscious, so I grabbed for the hair tie. Brandon pulled the hair tie away from me. "I love it. You are NOT allowed to put it back up," he said, a grin still on his face. I rolled my eyes, then grabbed for the hair tie once more. He shook his head.
"Was there anything else you'd like to do to give me self esteem issues?" I asked, quite annoyed. He shook his head again.
"Not to give you self esteem issues, no, but there is one more thing I've been wanting to do for a long time," he replied. Brandon leaned in, and crashed his lips into mine. He kissed me, and I mean REALLY kissed me. My heart soared, I was sooooooooo happy.
When we finally pulled back, we were both smiling. I had to tell my brain to shut up, because she was singing that old third grade rhyme. Olivia and Brandon, sittin' in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G.
Brandon pulled me closer to him, and he put his arm around me. I realized that my hair was still down, but at this point I didn't care. I knew the person I was with liked it better anyway.
"Brandon?" I asked.
"Mm?"
"What does this mean for us now?"
"Well," he replied. "I'm not sure you can just kiss a girl in a willow tree and not be in some sort of relationship with her. So, I would be honored if you were to be my girlfriend."
I turned to face him. "Yes!" I exclaimed, smiling. He smiled as well. I leaned against him, and he had his arm around me again. We sat there a while and talked, still hidden by the curtain of leaves growing on the willow tree.A/N
