The first day of summer... how I've waited for this day it seems like so long ago that my last year of high school began. As eventful as this school year was I'm happy it's over, that might sound cliche but it's true with all the exams, homework and everything else above this year was stressful. That's just normal isn't it? I find myself letting out a sigh only realizing after Kevin pokes my forehead disrupting my thoughts and saying in a playful voice."Now what's that about Titania?"
I shake my head conveying it's not that important but still he pushes on and says.
"Oh come on tell me."
Kevin's blonde medium cut hair and crystal blue eyes seem to be brighter from the morning sunlight his casual outfit of blue jeans and a gray t-shirt can't even compare. Instead of looking at him I look forward watching as the clouds roll by, their calm presence balancing out the sun's wild rays. It's hard to get a glimpse of such a serene sky these days the city skyscrapers always block the view yet here we are walking in the city, wandering around as teenagers often do when they have nothing to do. Well today we actually do have a goal we're going to the jewelry store to buy Paige, Kevin's girlfriend a bracelet tomorrow it's their one year anniversary. Knowing Kevin is horrible at picking out anything that has to do with style I agreed to come along out of general curiosity more than friendship though. I've never been to a store filled with expensive items it will be a real hassle to try and behave the way expected but I'll do my best besides I won't want to embarrass my best friend. Still I look at my naturally beige skinny hands and say to Kevin in a rather cheerful tone... more than I expected.
"It's nothing Kevin I'm just excited!"
For a second he examines me with his eyes and says:
"You seem nervous too, Titania."
He's not wrong but I can't tell him why I wouldn't want to ruin this experience with my insecurities in other to keep Kevin's mind at ease I say lightheartedly:
"Nope, not even close... I think you're reflecting your emotions on me."
Kevin turns his face to the right side and says in a shy tone that only comes out when the subjects turns to Paige.
"Well no... I'm just confused o-on the jewelry situation."
I giggle at his words and say teasingly.
"Right sure..."
We continue walking in silence both lost in our own thoughts until we reach the entrance to the jewelry store.. it's not as fancy as I thought it would be but the sliding doors are made of what looks like sturdy transparent glass. Above the entrance way in bold black letters, it says 'Pandora' with the o looking like a ring with a crown looking jewel on top. On either sides of the entryway behind the glass there's a display of silver and gold bracelets accompanied by rings with many colored diamonds embedded in them. If you look on that side then I guess it is more than I expected.. the bracelets here are so beautiful.. with fine forgery... simply mesmerizing I've never seen one this close up.. even blocked by the window covered with fingerprints of probably children wanting to catch a glimpse as their mothers pull them away, going off on their own business. I'm actually surprised I noticed that.. thought my vision was going blurry from all the textbooks and studying I had to do but of course I'm happy it still works well enough to see such things. From behind me, I hear Kevin ask colloquially.
"Whatcha doing, Titania?"
I face forward and see the slightly smudged glass right in front of me. How did I get here? I take a few steps away from it and say while rubbing the back of my head in slim embarrassment because of what I just did.
