With the boom of a flare gun
The merciless war begins
No one can be an alliance
Because everyone strives to win
I start out slow and steady
Watching the sprinters advance
Soon they'll get tired
And I'll seize my chance
Pounding the concrete roads
Sliding through the damp grass
Attacking the steep slopes
My victims falling back
One by one they start walking
Sometimes they stop and rest
I smell sweet victory
Endurance at the test
My mission's almost done
Just a little ways to go
Sprinting like a tiger
I always finish strong
Now my quest is over
My comrades have yet to arrive
The enemies are approaching
Trying to survive
A champion's always humble
They cheer their allies on
But deep down they know
They are the chosen one
