It was cold. No, it was hot. Well, I don't know. The point is, I was in trouble. Big trouble.

You know about the Greek gods, right? Yeah. I was in trouble with them.

I wasn't supposed to be born, or exist, and neither were my parents. My mom, specifically.

She was Celina, goddess of magic. Part of the big four. Normally you would think big three:

Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades.

But while all the Kronos-Luke-Dying-Jackson-Saves-The-World stuff happened, I was already 15.

No one knows I exist. Except my mom, but no one knows she exists either.

Well that was before. Now things were different...

Anyways, my mom was always hiding me, and honestly I wasn't against it. Olympus would go into a state of chaos if they found out either of us existed.

Eventually, my mom decided that I would infiltrate the camp. She never told me why. "It's for your own good. I've always done what's best for you, haven't I?" That was what she said every time the topic came up.

And every time, I would agree.

So anyways, the plan was to infiltrate the camp. I would be in disguise as a Child of Aphrodite.

Then I would become friends with the people their, especially this kid named Percy Jackson and his crew. They were some others named Annabeth Chase and a satyr, Grover.

The general idea was to get into a quest with them.

Of course I said okay. My mom has done everything for me. And only me. Or so I thought.

The night before I left for my mission, I heard something disturbing.

We were camped about 10 miles away from camp. My mom told me to sleep so I would be ready for my quest. I laid down. But I couldn't fall a sleep. About an hour past, and then I heard some cackling.

"Soon.. I will be known. As long as she listens."

"Yes, keep a close watch on her. If this gets messed up, it's over for you. Forever." A cracked voice said.

What did they mean by that? Were they talking about me? And what did that voice mean when they said something about getting messed up?

My head spun around and around until I eventually fell asleep.

Birds chirping...

Head spinning...

World turning...

As soon as I woke up, the conversation I heard last night bubbled up scary thoughts in my brain.

"Good morning sweetie. Ready for your big day?" It was my mom.

She wore her normal outfit, black top with a normal pair of jeans. It complimented her similar to mine olive skin and hazel eyes.

She was a bit taller than me, but as soon as you see her, you can tell she's no ordinary person. You'll just be able to tell due to her aura of power. You don't even need to see it, you can feel it.

The morning continued. We flew toward camp. A usual task, something my mom could easily conjure up.

After a few short, silent moments, we were at the border of trees, right outside of the camp.

"Now honey, I know this will be challenging. But I will always be there. You know how to contact me."

"Right mom, got it."

"And I have some items for your quest." She handed me a plain black and white Nike duffel bag.

I unzipped it.

I pulled out a metal stick.

"A daughter of the goddess of REAL Magic should have a wand, shouldn't she?" Mom said.

I was shocked. My mom rarely ever trusted me with magic, much less my own wand!

"... Thanks mom!"

"You'll need these too."

She handed me a large and heavy book.

"This is your magician training book, okay?"

"Mom, that sounds cheesy."

She pulled out a weird poncho looking thing. "This will give you speed when you wear it."

Next she pulled out an iPhone.

"Looks like my iPhone. I already have one." I said to her.

"No, more like, your path to freedom." She says.

"Oh come on mom. You know I like things straight up."

"You'll find out soon." She says mysteriously.

"Okayy."

Then she grabbed a pair of galaxy vans out of the bag.

"Oh, I can go to space with those, can't I?" I say mockingly.

"Actually..."

"Wait really?! Sweet!" I pull of my own pair of blue Converses and slip on the Vans.

I waited.

Nothing happened.

"Mom, these aren't working..." I complain, disappointed.

She laughed. "I just thought I'd get you a new pair of shoes. Something from this world to remember me by."

"I would have liked the space version Vans better..." I mutter under my breath.

She takes one last look at me and smiles. By now we're standing right in front of the entrance to the camp.

"I'll miss you, Serena."

And so, my journey begins.
