You know that lesson everyone taught you? Be grateful for what you have, because you don't know what you have until it's gone. I really shouldn't have taken that for granted. You'd think I'd learn that lesson after I lost my parents. I didn't.

I woke up to the constant beeping. It was starting to piss me off. What the hell was that. Slowly I opened my eyes to see people all around me, no, not just people, nurses. Then I realised where I was and why. I stepped on a rock, and all I can remember after that is seeing Lauren carrying me somewhere. Maybe here? I don't know. I looked over and saw that my foot was covered up in a cast.

"Hey nurses, can I like, not be here anymore?" I asked getting kinda annoyed at the constant beeping, it's not like I'm gonna die.

"Ms. Y/l/n, we need to finish the cast and you can leave with crutches." Said a blonde nurse, who seemed a little too young to work there, but who cares, as long as I get to leave.

Knowing I may be there for another hour I shut my eyes and tried to sleep. I just closed my eyes when I heard the door open. Wanting who I thought was the nurses to leave, I kept my eyes shut.

"Hey Laur, I know you want to see her but she looks asleep, maybe later?" I heard Normani say.

"No Mani, I'll wait here, I need to see her before I go." I heard Lauren say. I wanted to see her too, so I waited until the four girls left, leaving me and Lauren in the room together.

"Oh hey there girlfriend. I'd jump into your arms, but 1, I'm immobile right now, and 2, I've been in your arms more than I should be these past two days, from us hugging for like 3 hours, you throwing me into the water, then you carrying me to where I am now. And 3. I'm kinda immobile, wait did I say that already?" I said making her jump, which made me laugh.

Lauren looked at me, then the heart monitor, and back at me, then my leg, and back to me. She then slowly walked towards me. I sat up, moved over, and patted the open space next to me, which she cautiously took. I wrapped my arm around her and she rested her head on my shoulder.

"I really missed you Y/n. I really, really missed you," She sobbed into my neck. "I was an idiot to let you go, and I- I was so I was gonna lose you forever. I didn't sleep, eat or anything, my life was falling apart. They dragged me out of the house, convincing me that I needed to live my life. When I saw you, all the feelings came rushing back. But Y/n, there's one thing, I think I'm in love with you."

"Oh Lauren, I've been in love with you since our first date, hell I've been in love with you since the first time I got lost in your green eyes. I never thought someone could come around and help me, but you did. I didn't think I could feel like I had a family, but you let me in with loving arms, and I wanted to stay there forever." I said before kissing her forehead.

After thirty minutes her breaths became calm and steady, and listening to her breathing, I dozed off with her my side.

"Ma'am? I'm sorry to wake you but the cast should be dry by now and you can leave." The blonde nurse, who's name I learned is Lexi, said.

"Oh thank god, I mean I loved the service but I think some fresh air is definitely needed right now" I turned to look at Lauren, but she left. Lexi helped me out of the bed and onto my crutches, asking me if I'd rather use a wheelchair about twenty times. I sat myself down in the waiting room, waiting for someone to answer my request to pick me up.

"Hi there, my names Lauren Jauregui. I'm new," said a brunette after extending her hand.

I looked this Lauren Jauregui up and down, not knowing what to do, she had a skinny face, green eyes, plump lips, and pale skin, but was exhilaratingly beautiful. Shaking the thought out of my head, I took her hand and returned the gesture.

"Hey there, I'm y/n and I'll be your tour guide this fine day, or in other words your new bestfriend. And don't worry, I knew you were new as soon as you came over, I know faces, and I could promise you that if I'd seen a face like yours, I'd remember it. Now let's take a look at this schedule shall we?" I said taking the paper from the blushing girl. "Oh would you look at that, math, English, art, and wow, I'd call this fate. It looks like we have chemistry together," I said winking, making Lauren blush even more. "Hey I'm kidding, but I'll walk you to math. There's usually an open spot next to me if you want to occupy it."

Lauren stood at her locker and groaned. "Hey Y/n, can you open my locker, again. I need a notebook for art."  Over exaggerating a sigh, I walked over to her locker and popped it open with a kick.

"So are you a drawing type of chick?" I asked as I bent down to grab the notebook labelled art.

"No but I wish I was, I just can't draw for shit," she said with a laugh.

"Well I don't mean to toot my own horn but 'toot toot'. I'm pretty good. Maybe I could teach you, if you'd like," I said.

"I'd love too! Can you draw a rose?"

My phone buzzed and I got a text from Lauren explaining that she had to go but will be at the hospital in ten minutes to pick me up. I groaned and watched as patients of all varieties passed. I counted how many people had something sticking out of their chest. There was 21, one was a tree branch. Looking around, I saw some scratch paper and a pen. I hobbled over there and grabbed the items, hobbled back and sat down. Using a Cosmopolitan magazine to put my paper on, I drew. Time slowed down, ten minutes felt like ten hours. Suddenly, my phone buzzed. Lauren was outside. I quickly signed my name at the bottom and folded it, shoved it in my pocket, and made my way out the door.

I reached the passenger side in what felt like forever, "I hate crutches." I muttered, moving the seat back so my foot had room.

"Remember when we were in 7th grade and you asked me if I could draw a rose?" I asked patting my pocket to make sure the paper didn't fall out.

"Uhh yeah I think so why?" Lauren answered turning to look at me before looking back at the road.

"Well the answer is yes, I can draw a rose. In ten minutes too, with pen." I said pulling the folded paper out of my pocket, making sure not to crease it more than it already was. Slowly I unfolded it, working as if I was operating on the president. I waited until we were at a red light to show her my art. I could hear Lauren gasp under her breath. The drawing wasn't that good, it was only a hand holding up a rose, but the shading was pretty good, and I finally mastered the texture.

"y/n? Can I have this?" She whispered as if she were to speak any louder the paper would tear. I nodded, folded the paper and placed in her pocket.

"It's all yours." I said. The drawing wasn't the only thing that was hers, because I could proudly say again, that I was Lauren Jauregui's girlfriend.
