On the edge of my bed,

My Raggedy Ann & Andy clock,
Waiting
Till mom said
I could come down
For a drink,
If I was still
AWAKE.

I dream of sleep
When I'm awake,
Night and day
Interchangeable,
Baby's in charge,
Asserting her relentless
Demands,
With her and for her,
I am still
