Everyone was either talking with friends, intoxicated by alcoholic beverages they snuck in or, in Mrs. Hamilton's case, worried. She had no idea where or when Leilani had left to. She knew she was by the water, but they lived right on the beach. She could have been at most, 23 miles away. She decided to be a parent and take action. She ran outside, not even telling her husband where she was going. She kept calling Leilani's name but she was nowhere to be found. She swam out to a rock and looked at the waves. There was a paper almost about to decompose. She unfolded it and saw a picture, beautifully drawn, a sketch of the sunset with, wait.. Was that.. She thought she saw Leilani's surfboard and.. She was on it.. She held it against her heart and wondered if she would ever see her daughter again. Her heart sunk just thinking about all the possibilities. Leilani could be in the middle of the ocean right now. She could be in the garden right now. She walked back to the party, brokenhearted. Lost. She was now in mourning.
