She was confused.

Who was her friend?

Who was the foe?

Inquisitive eyes,

Cold judging stares,

How many hiding,

Behind masses of eyes?

She never knew,

How rough it felt,

To be stared down,

As if she was the plague,

Death by a look.

When you are not like them,

When you are different,

You soon realize,

That to value yourself,

You will not have to care

About talk with no sense.

When she found she liked her,

Disgust grew within her,

For not being as expected,

For not being like her friends.

In the way of survival,

Acceptance comes first,

After the pain has come and gone,

After the loneliness sets.

You will have to be blind,

You will have to be deaf,

You will have to be immune,

To their sticks and stones,

To their harmful words,

To them, snobs who sneer,

As if they were the best.

The world is not finished,

When rejection keeps appearing.

Because life does go on,

Beyond the limited world

The bullies have always known.

So, now you are different,

Know you are something else,

Your mind can now shine,

Like it could never before.

You can like him or her,

You can learn to be the same,

What you do with your feelings,

Doesn't matter to them.

The results you produce,

That which is in your head

Is what matters the most,

With the things that you build,

With the dreams that you make

You can build your own future,

And not be subject to fate.
