(Blue's P.O.V.)

The day had finally come. The VMAs performance was just about to happen. I was so nervous I could barely breath. Egypt had come with me to L.A., I chose not to tell him about the whole Elizabeth thing my mother told me. I knew I should have listened to his side of the story but I was afraid he was gonna be mad at me or something. Even tho we were very close, staying in the same hotel room, he was still a mysterious person. I lost my virginity to him just last week. The moment was great, tho it still kinda weird for me. I mean, the sex

'Are you ready Ms. Carter?' Vanessa came into my dressing room. I nodded and followed her. My heart pumping even faster every single step I took that was closer to the stage. My mother was in the audience, not knowing anything that was happening. I could hear her sisters Kelly, Michelle and Solange, presenting her award. She was on stage right now doing her speech. Soon enough I would be performing. Before she got out of the stage. The lights went out and I was places on stage right next to her. She had know idea until the lights went on again. I was wearing the same outfit she wore that day.

When she saw me and the song started playing she immediately started shaking and she put her hands to her mouth, speechless. They gave her a chair to sit on stage and she watched me perform. I hit all those notes, I was so proud of myself. As I looked at the audience I could see my father, tearing up, Michael Jackson rutting for me and Etta James apparently enjoying the song.

When I was done, everybody started getting out of their seats, clapping and celebrating they had really liked me! I looked at my mother and it looked like she cried the whole performance. She got up and hugged me, and we stayed on the hug for so long and people were still screaming, they gave her a microphone and after she recovered a little bit she said

'I'm so proud of you Blue! You are the best thing that had ever happened to me.'

'I love you mom'

'I love you too' We came backstage still hugging and crying and sharing the moment together. This was the ultimate thing for me. All I ever wanted to do was spend time with my mom. That's it. And this that was happening right now seemed to have made me forget all the years she payed no attention to me, all the performances she missed, it made up for everything. We came back to my dressing room and I told her about me and Egypt, she cried a little bit more and said that she was still proud of me.

'Ugh, I can't stop crying! How long have you been plotting this, uh?!' She said playfully

'Since the beginning of the year I think, Yeah...'

'I love you so much!'

'I love you too mom!'

'I'm sorry...'

'For what?!'

'Nothing is just...Losing your father made me cold. I think...I wasn't the best mom for you. I'm not the mom you deserved'

'Well, you are the only one I got. So...' I said laughing and she smiled, but afterwards the smile faded and she got up from her chair.

'I need to go to the bathroom'

'Ok.' As she left the room Dean came over to congratulate me, he had flowers just like my ballet performance.

'Blue...' My father showed up, suddenly in an urgent tone

'Hey dad, what is going on?'

'Your mother...'

'What happened?'

'She didn't seem too happy...'

'Oh, so you think she didn't like the performance'

'No, she loved the performance, it's just...I don't know'
