Stay (Natsu x Lucy)

Lucy woke to the sound of thunder and got out of bed. Lightning flashed across the dark sky. The rain poured endlessly. 

Lucy's POV

Oh come on! It has to rain on my birthday! I've also got some bad news to tell the guild. Can it get any worse? 

Lucy slipped out of bed and put on her favorite outfit.  It was her birthday after all. Her outfit was cheery and colorful not like the weather outside. Lucy sighed while looking out the window. Then she headed to make herself breakfast. Suddenly the door of her apartment flew open. A gust of wind made her shiver. Lucy could hear the rain still pouring outside. It was Natsu. He always barges in like that. Lucy and Natsu were best friends but they both liked each other. They were just too shy to admit it. 

"Happy Birthday!!!" Natsu yelled, while Happy flew over to Lucy to give her a present. Lucy wearily smiled. Natsu and happy were always cheerful no matter what. It made her feel a lot better. Lucy excepted her present. 

"Thank you, Happy. That's very sweet." Lucy said smiling but still a bit sad inside. Lucy's parents died and now a very nice couple wanted to adopt her. She gladly excepted because her dad's sister and her husband would be her new family. It would bring her closer to her parents. The only thing was that their house was quite far away and that meant she would have to leave Fairy Tail. Lucy would be joining  the Sabertooth guild. Lucy was sad and didn't want to tell but eventually she would have to. 

"C'mon Lucy!" Natsu called heading out the door. Lucy raced after him and walked to Fairy Tail.  No one said a word on the trip there. Finally they arrived at the guild. Lucy pulled open the doors, but no one was inside. Suddenly everyone jumped out screaming Happy Birthday!!! Lucy felt even sadder. How could she tell them when everyone cared so much for her? 

"Why such the long face Lucy?" Erza asked, walking up to her. Everyone probably noticed too because they all stopped talking. 

"Um..." Lucy said unsure how to tell everyone.'It's ok," Gray said, "we won't make fun of you or anything." Lucy took a deep breath and continued.

"I'm leaving Fairy Tail." she whispered. Lucy's eyes filled with tears. Everything just kept coming out until she was done.

"It's ok," Cana said trying to make her feel better, "we'll come visit." 

"We shall throw a party in honor of our Lucy that has contributed so much to our guild. I'll miss you a lot." Makarov said tears welling up in his eyes too.

"I have 3 days until I go." Lucy whispered in between sobs. Everyone gathered around Lucy and hugged her. After things had settled down a little Natsu pulled Lucy aside. 

"I'll miss you a lot, Lucy." Natsu said, starting to cry. Tears rolled down both of their cheeks. 

"I have a gift for you." Natsu muttered, pulling out a small yellow box." Inside was all the pictures of Natsu and Lucy from their quests, parties and more. Lucy cried even more. 

"Thank you." Lucy said. They hugged. It was a moment she'd never forget. 

TIME SKIP

~~~When Lucy's about to go~~~

Lucy waited at the train station. Everyone from Fairy Tail was there even Jellal. Lucy had 5 suitcases full of gifts. Lucy's favorite one was the bracelet Natsu had given her. He spent days making it. It was silver with a dragon and a princess. Half of it looked liked fire and the other half was all the celestial spirit signs. When Lucy's train came she started crying. A lot. Natsu hugged her. Lucy realized she really didn't want to go. It was too late now. 

"I love you Lucy," Natsu whispered, "and I know you'll always be here with us." 

"Think about coming back though. Fairy Tail will always welcome you back. And if you come back, I want you to Stay. Forever." Then they kissed. 

"One day, Natsu I will. I promise," Lucy whispered, "I love you."
