London, England. 1868.
People have always told me that monsters don't exist in this world, but they do. It is very rare to come across a person that has truly known a monster, all they seem to do is hide behind their charming smiles and pretty little lies. I've never really been afraid of these 'monsters' per-say. I do believe they exist, quite positive in fact, just not in that fantasy ridiculous kind of way. You see, I knew a monster once. In fact, I loved him.
My monster's name was Damian Skies. He was a respectable man, of high ranking in society of course, but no one knew him like I did. Behind his charm and sturdy physique was a beast; I just happened to fall in love with all of his false advertising. Marrying this man was my biggest mistake, I had no idea what I was signing up for. In this day in age it is very common for man to strike his wife, but not to the extent in which he struck me. My monster of a husband was never one of those big purple monsters that children seemed to dream up. No, my monster turned me purple with the painful bruises he left scattered all over my fragile body. His cruel words left my heart shattered and his threats left me in constant fear.
My monster broke me into the obedient little wife he had always wanted, and no one could ever save me from his wrath. I am Lillian Skies-- this is my story.
