From the moment I was born, I loved about everything I saw. My parents named me Haleigh, and I loved that name. As I grew up, I learned to be nice to others and to have manners at all times, which really paid off for me. I was a straight-A student all throughout my school career.
High school was a good chance for me to explore new things, like love and forgiveness. I never really understood that until I was in high school. I had a good life in every other area, except for love. I struggled to find a decent boy that actually wanted me for me. It seemed that everyone wanted something from me, but I didn't let it get to me. I patiently waited and still am waiting for my Prince Charming.
Just a few months ago, I graduated college. Now, I'm a nurse at Newberry Hospital. I work first shift and I get off work in about 15 minutes. Since I have nothing else to do, I'm going to go have dinner with my best friend, Ali.
I was walking down the street to the Bistro when I ran into a man on accident. I dropped my coffee and my bag spilled out over the sidewalk. I tried to get it all up quickly, when someone decided to help me.
"Thank you. Sorry for running into you."
He laughed, "Oh, it's okay! My name's Kyle. What's yours?"
"Haleigh," I quietly murmured.
"I like that name."
I scoffed.
"Thank you. I like it too."Kyle soon asked if there was someplace important I needed to be, so I said yes and told him where.
"Please, let me take you to the Bistro. I wouldn't want you to run into anything again," he chuckled.
A few minutes later I was being dropped off in front of the Bistro.
I took matters into my own hands and happily said, "thank you so much for helping me out back there and for giving me a ride. Is there anything I can do to pay you back for your kindness?" Kyle smiled softly and said, "maybe I can think of something later, but for right now, your number?"
Good move, Kyle. Good move.I wrote my number down on a bubblegum wrapper and put it in his jacket pocket and went to go have dinner with Ali.
"I don't know what it is about him, but I can't stop thinking about him already."
Ali scoffed, "you just met him today."
I rolled my eyes.
"I know. It feels like I've known him forever, though."
Ali looked me in the eyes and said, "look, don't rush things. Just let it play out. I don't want to see you get hurt."She was right. I didn't even know this guy. He could be married for all I know.
I looked at her apologetically and said, "I know. But if he calls, I'm not saying I'm not going to answer. Because I probably will."
We both laughed.
Ali walked me down to my car and I drove home. It was a good day.
A really good day.
