On the dismal night of June 9, 1819, my humanity was taken by a vampire—slaves to the shadows—as the Englishmen called them at the time. Us men were taught to hate and destroy these creatures of Hell, but I, the disbelieving, venturesome nineteen-year-old, had sneaked out of my home to visit my confidential inamorata, Ember, at the time these creatures were rumored to roam the most.
To simplify and shorten this suspenseful tale, Ember was previously mauled by one of the demonic creatures and had turned into one herself. Still unknowing, I allowed her to do whatever she wanted with me, which included leaving various bites and bruises all over my ivory skin. That itself was a daring move since Ember and I promised to keep each other from our loved ones—those marks would've blown my cover easier than anything. As her lips descended down my sweaty, heaving chest, she grazed her oddly sharp canines over my skin. We both moaned as she moved back to my lips, giving me a hungry kiss before she retreated to my neck, flicking her tongue over my protruding vein before sinking her teeth into me.
I grunted and attempted to pry her body from on top of me as my eyes began to water due to the unbearable pain overtaking all of my senses. Her body refused to budge as she grabbed my head tighter, holding me in place as she drained everything from my body. I continued to hit her back, my screams of desperation muffled by her shoulder.
I didn't last more than five minutes before I bled out on her silk sheets, choking on my own blood as my vision grew hazy and my heartbeat began to decelerate. She planted her soft lips on mine before sitting up, wiping my blood off with the back of her hand. "We can be together forever now, Harry."
If only I knew I'd never be the same after that night forth. For the next couple centuries, I'd be adjusting to the new lifestyle I'd have to live—killing and compelling humans for my own filthy pleasure. The worst part about it—I loved it up until I met a little college student that I decided to keep alive longer than the others. It was a huge mistake that led me to feel and love again.
This is bad, which is risky since prologues are probably the most important parts of a story. Anyhow, I still hope you enjoyed.
