It was a late Saturday afternoon and Dana, your best friend of 4 years, was coming over later so you thought you would clean out your closet while you waited for him. When you opened your closet, you were shocked at how much stuff was in there. So you decided to start on pulling out the clothes. You were pulling on a scarf that was stuck at the top of your closet, you tried to pull it out and when you FINALLY got it, a box fell to your feet.
" oh..Whats this..?" you said shocked, The box was covered in stickers, writing and when you finally found something you could read it said "memories with my best friend, Dana."
You squealed in excitement!
You grabbed the box and sat down on the floor to reminisce through the items in the box. The first thing you grabbed from the box was a cute little card from grade 5 with a drawing of heart on it. It read
"Hey Angie, so it's valentines day and I was wondering if you wanted to be my valentine to the dance this Friday, as friends of course! love ya!" the part where it said "as friend" made you sigh a bit because deep down, even back then, you had feelings for Dana, but you never admitted it because you didn't want to wreck your friendship. You rummaged through the box some more laughing, sighing and tearing up at everything, then you found a picture that hit you like a bag of bricks. It was a picture of the day you met Dana, you were on the swings and he was pushing you. You could remember that day like it had just happened yesterday,
~flashback at the park~
(You mom) "Okay Angie, I'm going to be over here, you go play for a bit"
You "OKAY!!" you hollered back as you frantically ran towards the swing set.
Right as you got to the swings you went to grab it but at the same time a boy did too, so you ended up grabbing each others hands. "Oh, I'm sorry!" you shyly pulled away and blushed, "oh haha it's okay!! ladies first, Hi, I'm Dana!" he grinned hugely, "I'm angelica, but you can call me Angie" you giggled. You hopped onto the swings and was about to push off the ground but then Dana yelled "HEY! why don't i push you??" you smiled and said sure. You guys spent hours laughing and running around the park until your mom called out to tell you it was time to leave, "Oh.. i have to go now i guess..." you frowned slightly "oh..i had fun hanging out with you, Angelica!" Dana half frowned half smiled. You didn't want to just leave him, you had so much fun with him so you ran over to you mom and whispered something to her and she smiled and nodded. Dana was watching and then you ran over to him and asked if you could have his number so you guys could hang out again and he smiled ear to ear and asked his mom, your parents exchanged numbers and set up another time to hang out, you and Dana said your goodbyes and since then you guys have been best friends ever since!
~present day~
You smiled and then began to cry, just as you were doing so Dana walked into your room
"Hey Angie, your door was unlocked so I- OMG ARE YOU OKAY WHATS WRONG??" he rushed to your side and held you tight, you giggled and said "nothings wrong, i was just going thought our old memory box and some of the stuff in here just got to me" he wiped the tears from your face and then took the picture of the two of you, " oh i remember this, it was the first day I met you, ew i was so tiny...my hair why?" you both laughed and then stared at the picture.
"You know this was a really special day for me, Angelica" he sighed. You looked at him with curiosity "Why" you asked quietly and he looked at you and said "well... it was...the first time i met you and look how amazing our friends has been and....it was also...ok...um.." he stopped and got up "hey.. wait tell me...it was also what?" you grabbed his hand and turned him around " it was the day i started to like you" he said quietly, you were in awe and your first reflex was to kiss him, and that's exactly what you did. Your lips broke apart and he sighed and said "wow... i've been wanting to do that for so long" you blushed and said "me too" and you hugged him. You both spent the rest of the day looking at the rest of the stuff in the box and watching movies while cuddling up to each other. You both couldn't be happier.
