Chapter 1:
Australia, Perth 2011.
‘Hey what’s the big idea! Oh~ yo Mika-‘ I groan as I turn off my blaring alarm. I sigh and sit up.
‘Just another day at school, mom.’ I say to myself, as I look at my family photo on my bedside table. I grab the photo and give it a good look, even though I have done the same thing every morning since the day my mom died.
It was a picture taken when I was 5 years old. The picture was set at our old house in England, with Serena sitting on mom’s lap.
Serifina and Sophia were on the right hand side of mom, and I was on the left.
‘I can’t believe it has been 12 years.’ I mumble to myself.
“Come on Sapphire! wake up! It’s time for school!” I hear Xavier say from the other side of my bedroom door.
“Yeah, I’m up.” I say as I jump out of my bed and grab my towel and uniform while making my way to the bathroom. When I open the door Xavier was already going through his morning routine.
Being our Au pair, he does most of the house work and technically he isn’t a stranger living under our roof, he’s our cousin from the States, coming to study for University, which is weird because all the good university are in the State not in Perth.
I went to my bathroom and quickly took a shower and changed into my uniform. I wore long, navy-blue pants and a blue shirt with nothing but the school logo, on the right pocket. Rosewood Senior High School, dad said it was rank no. 3 in Western Australia and it’s a public school. As always I let my hair down, and just brushed it down. I don’t like to spend a lot of my time on hair and make up, it just feels weird and I don’t want to turn in to one of the Bimbo wannabe’s, even though I know people who aren’t bimbo, but wear make up anyways…I guess I’m just lazy and see no point in it. Meh…
I took a good look at myself in the mirror. My black hair fell just below my shoulders and my dark brown eyes looked fresh but if I looked closely, I could see some pain. I was average height and had a nice figure. I smiled to myself, before going down stairs for breakfast.
When I got down, my sisters were already down there, all of them where wearing the same uniform as me except for Serena who was still a junior, so she had to wear a white shirt instead of a blue one.
“Mornings guys.” I said.
“Morning.” My twin Sophia said. She looked so much like me but her hair was a lot shorter and her eyes are a little shade of brown than mine’s. The only time she gets angry is when our little sister, Serena, would do something reckless. She loves to read and collect unique rocks but she loves being outdoors with the animals she cares for even more. She knows everything there is to know about any animal in the world.
