'I think my professor is making us kill people.'
Aspen Conway is excited to start university. She's excited to go to parties, she's excited to meet new people, and she's looking forward to getting to know that cute friend-of-a-friend that just can't keep his eyes off of her.
But soon, things stop adding up. Things don't make sense, and there's no explanation to any of it. Why can't she remember anything from her psychology class, but everyone else can describe it to the smallest detail? Why does everyone seem to love their charismatic, twenty-something professor, but she can't recall a single thing about him?
How can she explain the fact that she saw her roommate covered in blood after their first party?
Aspen knows she isn't going crazy, and that's why she needs to get to the bottom of it. But the more she uncovers, the more she begins to realise how dangerous her situation is, and how terrifying the fate of her friends is going to be.
Why is it that she's the only one awake to see it all?
Awake won the Storysmith Award in the 2017 Wattys. "The art of storytelling requires a mastery of style, plot and character development. This award recognizes the stories that wowed us with their commitment to the craft."
Hi there, and thank you for checking out Awake! The whole inspiration of this story stems from a dream, so I'm not quite sure how it will translate into writing, but I hope you enjoy it, I know I'll enjoy writing it.
Awake has aspects of numerous genres, being a supernatural mystery/suspenseful thriller, but above all young adult. It does contain romance, and some gory scenes, but nothing overly graphical. If I were to rate it, it would be classified M15+.
It will likely have about 20 chapters, and it will be a novella rather than a full sized book(at least as a first draft).
Never hesitate to share any feedback you have, and please don't forget to vote if you enjoy it, it really supports me!
Special thanks to violadavis for the amazing graphic shown at the top of this chapter 💞
Love, Ann.
