This year the Pittsburgh Penguins are taking home the Stanley Cup! 7 years ago on this day (Jun. 12, 2009) and the Penguins won the Cup! The Penguins have won their 4th Stanley Cup in franchise history after defeating the Sharks in 6 Games! Sidney Crosby won this years Conn Smythe Trophy after winning his 2nd career Stanley Cup. Also, Matt Murray ties NHL Rookie Record for most wins in a playoff year (15)
Congratulations to the Pittsburgh Penguins and their fans. They did deserve it. They played a fantastic season and have been rewarded. There were only two reasons I wanted the Penguins to win and their names are Carl Haglin and Matt Murray. Haglin- I wanted Hags to win because he was with the Rangers for a while and I felt bad that he's had so many chances to win the Cup. All those Conference Finals and (Final)Finals we've been knocked out of over his years with them he really deserved this. I'm proud of this kid. He's in a better place now😣.
Murray- Murray is an incredible goaltender for his age. I wanted him to win because your not gonna have the chance to be a big piece of why your team has won the big prize as a backup goalie. This kids amazing! I've never seen such an incredible young goalie who was willing to step up to the plate and carry this team all the way to the finals and the big prize. Good job Murray👏🏼👏🏼!!
