The next day was my day off. Lucky me.

Yeah right

Hunter was still asleep when I got up, so I just let him be. I got up and walked into the living room. I glanced over at the pistol setting on the table.

Guns had always scared me. My father always had them in the house when I was younger, and my mother was shot when I was five, so I didn't like them very much.

I started picking up the beer cans and bottles. Along with all the empty bottles of liquor. I put them in the trash, and then took the trash outside.

I opened the trash can to find a black duffel bag. I picked it up and set it down on the porch steps. I crouched down and unzipped it. Inside were dozens of tiny little square bags, and they were filled with a white powder.

Great. Hunter is moving up as a drug dealer. Now he's passed weed and onto cocaine.

I zipped the duffel bag back up and threw it over my shoulder. I walked back into the house and set it down on the couch. I unzipped it again and grabbed the pistol off the table and shoved it into the bag.

Maybe he was planning on using that gun on you.

I looked at the gun again. Hunter would never hurt me like that. He loves me.

Are you sure about that?

I shook my head and went into the kitchen. I started cooking breakfast. I made pancakes, waffles, bacon, eggs, and French toast. I had to keep my mind occupied.

After I finished breakfast and ate, I decided to do the dishes. I kept looking over to the duffel bag.

He would use it if you made him mad enough.

No. I had to keep telling myself that it was for work. Strictly a business weapon.

I heard Hunter stumbling through the hallway into the kitchen. I braced myself for what was going to happen next. I turned around to face him.

"Abigail. Baby...I-I didn't know if you would be here." He held his head as he looked at me. I crossed my arms over my chest and looked at the floor.

"I don't remember anything. Please tell me I didn't hurt you..." He pleaded walking over to me.

"Not physically. Mentally, now that's a different story." I didn't look at him as I spoke.

"I'm so sorry baby. Please forgive me. I'm sorry I ruined our anniversary. I had so many plans. Fuck. I can't believe I fucked up." He pulled me into his chest.

"You don't remember anything? Anything at all?" I asked as I hugged him. I hoped he didn't remember Sebastian.

"All I remember was getting promoted at work." I pulled away from the hug, but he still held me in his arms.

I brushed his arms off and walked over to the couch and the duffel bag. I pulled the pistol out and set it on the table.

"Is this going to be your new version of the shotgun?" I said as my voice cracked. I fought back tears as I said it.

"Oh my god, baby please tell me I didn't-"

"No. You didn't. Not yet at least."

"I won't ever do that to you ever again." He came over to me and held my hands.

"That's what you said when it happened the first time." A tear fell from my face and I quickly wiped it away.

Hunter looked at the ground. He knew I was right. He released my hands and sat down on the couch. He leaned forward and put his head in his hands.
