Walking in late sucks. Everyone just turns around like I came from a murder scene and I'm a suspect.
"Oh, Miss Sargent, glad you could make it." Mrs. Hodges has always hated me.
"Go ahead and sign in."
I sat down and she continued to read off pointless announcements that I refuse to care about.
Second and third period flew by. When you fall asleep in class, they usually do. I made it to lunch with half of my hair falling out of my bun.
"Hey Em." Abby and Brandi say almost in unison.
We've all been friends for about 7 years but I have to say, they're so much closer than me with either of them have ever been. I don't mind, I'm a very solitary person.

I didn't feel like eating very much, so I just ate a granola bar I packed 2 days earlier that still happened to be in my bag.
"Have you met that new kid?" Abby asks Brandi as if I'm not even here. I'm used to this.
"No, but everyone keeps talking about him, is he cute?"
"He kinda looks like a mix of Harry Styles and Dave Franco"
"Holy shit. What's his name?"
"His name is Cameron." I say butting into what seems to be their conversation.
They look at me awkwardly.
"He sits behind me third period and next to me fifth"
"Why didn't you tell us?" Brandi says protesting.
"I didn't think it was that big of a deal, I guess."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fifth period rolled around as soon as that conversation was over. I got into the classroom and buried my head into my arms which laid on my desk.
"Hey did you you know what the homework was?"
I lift my head from my arms.
It was cameron.
"Oh yeah. Here." I say handing him my messy homework that I had copied from a girl in my second period class.
"Oh thanks."
I mean, I guess he was kind of cute. He had those strange eyes that changed from gray to hazel. And every now and then he let out the cutest half smile that I had seen a few times in the 3 days he had been at Miller high. And his hair, well it was curly but not long. I don't know.
In the middle of daydreaming while not caring about a word the teacher said, I heard Cameron's voice say "Here, thanks." I took the paper.
And as I looked at him, he let out that half smile.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You're late. Again."
"I know, I'm sorry. I had to drop off Abby at her dance rehearsal"
"Is she your brother? NO," he said answering his own question.
L
"Well I'm sorry. How can I make up for it?"
"Just take me home."
When we get home, I make him the only thing I seem to find in the fridge, Mac and cheese.
"Don't you have, like, homework or something?" I ask him as he sits on the rug in front of the TV playing some violent video game my dad was ignorant enough to buy him.
"No."
I eat dinner alone, since Zack was still so intrigued in his video games, and head up to my room.
Looking through all the assignments my teachers had stamped throughout the day, I was pretty satisfied with myself for having done all of my homework. I run into the pre-calculus assignment Cameron had asked me to borrow, and at the bottom of the page there was something I had overlooked earlier.
It read "Meet me @ Charlie's.
