"No, no. Not like that!"

Swiftclaw was learning tree-climbing with Darkheart.

Darkheart shook her head, frowning.

"Use your hindlegs to push yourself upwards! And use your forepaws to grab some of the tree trunk and pull yourself upwards!"

Swiftclaw scowled, and muttered "When have wolves turned into cats?"

Darkheart demonstrated, sprinting up the tree swiftly and settling in a fork in the tree.

Swiftclaw snorted.

"Let me try."

Swiftclaw scrambled up the tree, digging his claws into the bark. "Grrr...." He used his hindlegs to push himself upwards.

The sudden burst of strength helped, and Swiftclaw clung onto a branch until Darkheart helped the rest of the way up.

The moon had started climbing into the sky, and the horizon was glowing.

"Isn't it beautiful?" Darkheart breathed.

Swiftclaw murmured "It is."

Darkheart turned to look at him. "You could see this everyday if you joined our Pack."

Swiftclaw stiffened.

"I-I don't know."

Darkheart brushed her tail along his flank, pleadingly.

"Please, Swiftclaw."

Her gentle voice settled Swiftclaw, but he muttered.

"Darkheart, stop."

He dashed down the trunk, and trudged towards the camp.

Swiftclaw felt the sadness of Darkheart's gaze burn into him, and he padded forward a little faster.

"Sandpelt."

Swiftclaw approached the leader of the pack.

Sandpelt tipped her head to the side.

"Yes?"

Swiftclaw gulped.

Am I making the right decision?

"I would like to join your pack."
