I silently walk into the girl's bedroom. I head over to my small cot that sits up against a window. Sitting down, I slowly move the curtains to see the night sky, and my eyes land on a bright shining star. "Okay, might as well give it a shot." I'm starting to get desperate, sometimes extreme measures have to be made.
I sit up on my knees and lock my eyes on the star. "Star bright, star light, first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, have this wish I wish tonight." I whisper as quiet as humanly possible. "So, this is going to sound cliché, but I really want a family and I kno-" Suddenly, I hear a door creak. I try to close the curtains and sit down as fast as I can.
"What do you think you're doing missy?" A woman with a stern voice says. I recognize it anywhere, Miss Beverly.
"Um, I uh, was just looking out the window." I answer nervously.
"Get to bed, you were already late anyway. Sandra should have put you in 'The Room' for taking longer in the shower. Be lucky I don't write you up!" She whisper-yells and walks out closing the door. I sigh and quickly reach for the box under my bed. I open it and take out a picture of my parents. I slide the box back under the bed, lay down, and drift off to sleep with the picture held close to my chest
