How old do you have to be before you go to legitimate prison? I'm glad I don't have to find out. My father convinced Mombot to drop the charges or whatever it was she had against me. I'm so incredibly thankful. But now I have to live with my aunt June. She lives in a smallish town in the middle of nowhere but I'm not complaining. I get to leave my mom. I'm happy.
Currently I'm packing my bags. I'm not sure what to expect so I'll just ask my aunt to take me shopping when I get there. I pack everything I own and collect my phone from my mothers room. Nice knowing you bitch. I packed all of my things into my old car. It was given to me by an old librarian for my 15th birthday. He'd been working on it for years and simply had no use for it. Because I was so frequently found in the library he and I had a certain bond. He was almost like a grandfather to me. So he gave me this car, it was a powder blue '67 mustang fastback and hell knows I'd taken good care of her. Now she was going to accompany on a long drive. This drive would take around 10 hours so she needs to be prepared. We'll be alright.
"It's time to go I suppose" I mumble as I climb into my baby. We pull up to a gas station and fill up. I grab snacks and prepare to leave. I was expecting to pay next months rent but now I don't have to so I've got cash to spend. I get back in my car and am about to leave when I hear someone call my name. I use the rear view mirror to look behind me when I see him. Earl. My best friend.
"Leaving so soon princess?" He addresses me. I look back and I can't help but laugh. This is incredible. I get out of my car and walk to Earl.
"Sorry to leave handsome, but I've got other places calling me. No going away party? Really best friend?" I joke with him. He smiles.
"Unfortunately I couldn't get the gang together in time to throw one, my apologies." He continues with the joke.
"I'm hurt" I dawn a hurt expression and put my hand on my heart. Giving my best sad eyes.
"Alright kid, don't mess up, wherever you're going, try to stay out of police cars and make some friends your age. Be good. I don't need a bad influence for a best friend." He tells me seriously. I'm touched. I haven't known this man longer than a week and he already cares so much. I decide to give him a hug.
"You too buddy." I sigh as I let go. It was an awkward hug considering he's so tall and I'm not even 5'3". He pats my head and we say our final goodbyes. I climb into my baby and our journey begins. To a new home with a new family. A new life. I've gotta make this one good.
