Hyun Ji's eyes fluttered open as her blurry vision slowly began to clear up. Bringing her hand to her throbbing head, she used her other arm as a support as she struggled to sit upright. Taking a look around, her surroundings appeared familiar and a moment later, it finally occurred to her that she was still in the toilet. She let out a relieved sigh. Hyun Ji was glad that no one had found her unconscious because that would stir up a whole lot of attention from everyone in school and Hyun Ji definitely didn't want that to happen.
Hyun Ji took in a few deep breaths as her heartbeat gradually returned to its usual rate. Her lungs no longer felt constricted and the numbness in her legs was already gone. Even so, her head was still throbbing from the aftermath of her passing out. Fetching her phone from her pocket, she did a time check. She was five minutes away from missing two whole periods of Mathematics. Hyun Ji wasn't worried of being told off by her teacher since her teacher didn't even know of her existence in the first place. Hyun Ji went through all measures to not have her existence known by her teachers because having her name called out in class was the last thing she wanted.Of course, the benefit she got from being non-existent to most of her teachers was that she could miss all of their lessons and they wouldn't even notice.
Slowly bringing herself up to her feet, she held onto the sink as a support and stabilized herself. Hyun Ji stared into the mirror as her mind went adrift to the dream she had earlier on. It felt so real, as though it once took place at one point of her life but no matter how much she wrecked her brain, Hyun Ji couldn't recall going through such an incident before. Hyun Ji could remember every bit of the dream she had earlier on but the only thing she couldn't seem to remember was the image of the boy. Even in the dream, the boy's image seemed blurry.
Hyun Ji was brought out of her reverie upon hearing the bell ring, signaling the change of lessons. Splashing water onto her face, she calmed herself down and pushed the dream towards the back of her mind. But she knew it would only come back to haunt her in due time. Heaving a sigh, Hyun Ji grabbed her sketchbook that had fallen onto the floor and took hold of the brown paper bag. Leaving the toilet, Hyun Ji disposed the brown paper bag into the bin.
She wasn't hungry anymore.
The hall was bustling with students taking their own sweet time getting to their next lesson. In due time, the discipline master was bound to blow his whistle as a warning for them to quicken their pace. Till then, everyone cherished the short period of time they had. Squeezing through the gaps between the students, Hyun Ji made her way to her Mathematics classroom. Her classmates were still inside, talking to one another as they made their way towards the door. It was easy for Hyun Ji to get to her seat ,unnoticed, since everyone was distracted in a way or two.
Grabbing her bag from her seat, Hyun Ji left the classroom by the back door and made her way to her next lesson which was a self-study period. During self-study periods, students were allowed to choose where they wanted to study: the student's lounge or the library's resource room, where teachers took turns to monitor the students. Hyun Ji always alternated between the two places and so she made her way to the student's lounge. Entering the student's lounge, which was still rather empty, Hyun Ji made her way to her usual seat right next to the window, at the back of the room.
Hyun Ji took out her Mathematics notes to attempt at catching up on what she had missed during the two periods of Mathematics earlier on. However, no matter how hard she tried to put her focus into studying, the dream she had in the toilet was beginning to creep up into her thoughts. Eventually, she gave up trying and simply stared out of the window, letting her mind wander off once more. She replayed the dream in her head and each time, she tried to picture the boy but to no avail. Hyun Ji heaved a sigh as she ran her fingers through her hair.
