Austin's POV:
It's been a while since I talked to Chance. I've seen him, but he never talks to me. I mumble the occasional "Hi" in the hallway, but he never responds. He seems... so distant. I thought maybe meeting him was a sign, a beginning to a new friendship. But I guess not...
I walked through the entryway to my school, North Park High. The cool metal bar slung across the glass is enclosed by my fingers as I push the door open. People crowd the hallway, each person searching through their locker for the things they need for first period. As always, one person sticks out to me... Chance. He's the first person I see every day. After all, he is something... special.
I walk slowly down the hall, taking my sweet time because Ana and I got here early today. I realize my gaze is glued on Chance's blue eyes, which leads me to also realize that his eyes are glued on mine. We hold the eye contact for a little longer, before I allow my eyes to dart to the floor as I turn and head for my locker in freshman hall.
My gaze drags along the wall, racing over the artwork and advertisements scattered along the wall. I do a double take when I see the prom poster. My heart skips a beat as I think about what my Junior and Senior proms will be like. I let my mind wander dreamily as my fingers skim across the lockers. I'm still in a dreamy mood as I gently swing my locker open, barely noticing the note that flutters delicately to the ground. I swing my bag over my shoulder and hang it on the hook in my locker, then bend down to pick up the note. It's folded up, but on the outside, in black pen, the words "To: Austin Fox From: Your Secret Admirer <3" are written carefully.
