I scan the dull walls as I traipse down the echo filled corridor. The other boy who was called has already entered his room. Number 16. The number echoes inside of my head as I pass each door. 14. 15. 16. I stop in front of the door, and take a deep breath. I'm not prepared for this at all, but the only thing I can do now is walk through that door and face what I'll have to do. I push the door open, my eyes greeting my reflection as I glance to the left. On the right side, there is a blank white wall with a row of windows at the top. As I look forward, I see a recliner chair in the centre of the room, next to a computer sat on a cabinet with its wires leading through the gap in the door which leads to the back room. No sign of the examiner. That is until the door to the back room opens.
"Oh," she says in a surprised voice, taking her hand away from her curly blonde hair which bounces at her shoulders, "Hello! My name is Colette." She motions her arm over to the chair as she rolls up her sleeves. "Take a seat."
I hesitate, then awkwardly walk towards the chair. It reminded me of a dentist. Too much like a dentist. As I lower myself into the chair, she picks up a couple of wires which are attached to the computer. I've never seen anything like those before, despite being in Erudite.
"What are they?" I blurt out, as she gets ready to stick them onto my head. She gives a suspicious look to me.
"Oh. You did come from Erudite, right?" She questions in a soft tone of voice. She must be from Amity. I probably should have guessed that earlier due to the green buttoned up shirt and jade cargo jeans that she sports. "These are electrodes," She continues, "They'll help me to see your results." She explains.
See my results? Through my brain? I stop the questions from flooding in as she attaches them to my temples. Then, after a few taps of the keyboard, she retrieves a shot glass from the cabinet and then swirls it around in her hand. I try to lift my head so that I can see the mysterious liquid inside of it. It's a clear blue fluid, which looks only a little bit thicker than water.
"Open up!" She commands, bringing the cup to my lips. Before I am able to object, the liquid has already fallen down my throat. I close my eyes to allow it to carry out its purpose. Soon, I am overcome with a slight dizziness. Then, before I know it, I lose conciousness.
