SOPHIE'S POV
I inhale the scent of mallowmelt as I wake up on my eighteenth birthday. I am so excited, because today, Biana, Linh and I are going to get our scrolls! I practically skip downstairs.
When Edaline sees me, she wipes tears from her eyes. "My little girl is so grown up!" she says, and then offers me a slice of mallow melt.
"Thanks, Mom" I say, and then sit down at the table. Grady is back to being an Emissary, and he is often away from home.
"You're picking up your scroll today, right?" Edaline asks.
"Yes!" I say.
Then I hear a knock on the door. This puzzles me, because Biana and Linh are picking me up at 11. I wonder who it could be.......
