(Scene is in Jack's room. Everything is fairly organized. He has gaming posters on his wall and a drum set in the corner of

his room.)

(Jack's alarm clock goes off. He immediately shuts if off and sits up in his bed to stretch. He looks at his clock to double check what time it really was and groans rubbing his forehead.)

(Background song plays: "Look what you made me do'' by Emma Blackery)

(Next shot is on the bathroom taking an asprin after a shower and looking at himself in the mirror. His mom calls up to make sure he's awake.)

Jack's mom: Jack! Are you awake?!

Jack: I'll be down in a minute Ma!

(Quick shots of Jack pulling a plaid, button-up t-shirt out of his closet and pulling it over a washed-out gray shirt and faded blue jeans.) (Quick shot of Jack

marking off another day on his calender. It's June 3rd. June 10th is marked as

Graduation day.)

(Next scene is in the kitchen where Jack's mom is making breakfast. Jack whips around the corner and goes by the stove almost running into his mother.)

Jack's mom: Watch it! (She almost drops eggs out of a frying pan). I see you're feeling better today.

Jack: Yeah. Fishbach's music still kept me up late. I mean, who throws a party on a school night? (He grabs for toast)

Jack's mom: A boy who's parents are always traveling for work and leaving him alone. (Jack groans, as he's heard this speech before). I'm serious, he's lonely over there. (She gestures the spatula at

Jack) And you'd better be nice to him.

Jack: (whilst eating strips of bacon) I'll be nice to him when he grows up.

Jacks mom: (she sighs and ignores his

comment) Now are you working tonight? (Jack nods in between bacon bites) Don't forget, you have graduation rehearsals in

5 days. Make sure you're not working then.

Jack: I know Ma.

(Next scene is at Mark's house. Shots pan around the kitchen and living room to see they're in ruins. Beer cans and party cups were on every surface. Confetti and streamers were hanging off fixtures and the floor had garbage from snacks everywhere. We see Mark wearing only a pear ofjeans passed out on his couch. The alarm on his phone goes off. He rolls over and sluggishly reaches for his phone to

shut it off. He flipped over on his back to check his messages only to be blinded by the sunlight. He sits up.) (Next shot is over the shoulder looking at his phone. His first message was from his friend, Ryan.)

< Hey man, you hurled right after that last shot. I cleaned it up, but I'll have a

painkiller for you at school.>

(He felt his hangover now. The next text was from hos mother.)

< Sorry Mark, your father and I are stuck at his base for another week. Be back as

soon as possible. I'll send money. Love you.>

Mark: (he locks his phone and sighs) Of course. (He looks at the clock on the wall.) Shit! (He runs upstairs and looks around his room in panic. There are clothes all

over his floor and hanging out of his dresser. He grabs a red shirt from his

dresser and smells it before throwing it on.)

(Next scene is outside ofJack's house where Jack is trying to leave, but his mother keeps pestering him.)

Jack's mom: Try and get some sleep this week, but say hi to Signe for me.

Jack: (He nods and tries to get his mom to go back inside.) I will Ma, see you later. (They both hear a noise and turn to the house next to them. Mark was rushing out the door and locking it behind him.)

Jack's mom: (waving to Mark) Hello Mark!

Mark: (nervously raises his arm half-mast to wave) Good morning Mrs. McLoughlin.

(There is an akward silence before Jack shoves his mother back into the house)

(Both boys walk down their pathways having a staredown.)

Jack: You should learn to keep the noise down at night Fishbach!

Mark: You should learn to control your mom, McLoughlin!

(They both take oppoaite sides of the street and walk to school.)
