[Jieun]
"I can't believe how long this process is taking. It's already been like a month."
Dohee moved her eyes away from the boutique display and narrowed them at me, "What can't you believe? The fact that you haven't had intercourse yet?"
"Yes."
"That's probably your conscience making you feel guilty because you're just using an innocent boy for sex OR it could be that you don't want to have sex with him yet because once it's done, you're scared that your relationship won't be the same anymore."
"That's ridiculous. I'm not looking for a relationship with him---wait! What the fuck is he doing?? And who is she??"
I pointed out the window of the store once I saw Yongguk strolling down the sidewalk with a beautiful girl linking arms with him.
They were laughing and they walked into a shop across the street. I had no idea who she was.
"Does she go to our school? Do you know her name?"
Dohee pushed my face away from her, giving herself more room, "Why do you care so much, huh? Are you jealous?"
"No way." I said confidently. "I need to find out who she is though."
----
We had a four day weekend from school, so the only way I could see Yongguk was if I went out of my way to visit him again.
Which is what I did today.
I rang his doorbell and waited for him to open it. I tapped my foot impatiently as I waited for more than ten seconds. Finally he opened the door.
"Jieun! What are you doing here?" He stepped out of the house and closed it slightly.
I held out the tray of cupcakes that I brought over an as excuse to stop by. "I made these cupcakes but it turns out I happened to have extra so I'm giving them to you."
Yongguk smiled, looking a little shocked by my kind gesture. "Wow, that's really nice of you. Thank you very much."
I flipped my hair and started to invite myself in, "Well since I'm here---"
"Yongguk, I've been waiting in your room for forever~"
And then I saw her. That girl who was clinging onto Yongguk earlier today. She was wearing a long t-shirt and who knows if she was wearing something underneath. I immediately dislike her.
Yongguk looked at the girl and let out an awkward cough. "Oh Jieun, I have company with me right now--"
"Hi I'm Hyeri." The disgustingly cute girl stuck her hand out to greet me and I civilly shook her hand.
"I'm Jieun." I retracted my hand and crossed my arms, turning to Yongguk. "I didn't think you would be busy right now."
Hyeri puffed her cheeks and tugged on the back of Yongguk's shirt, "Are we going to go back upstairs?"
I looked her up and down and scoffed at her hand which was now tightly holding onto his arm.
Yongguk faced me again and gave me a sorry smile, "Sorry Jieun. But thank you for bringing over the cupcakes."
Before Yongguk could close the door, a car pulled up to the driveway and Daehyun got out. "Hey! Why aren't you answering your phone? Oh...am I interrupting something?"
"Oh right... I forgot we were supposed to do something today..." Yongguk apologized to Daehyun.
"It's ok! Why don't we all go out together." Hyeri suggested, getting Daehyun and Yongguk to agree with her.
It wasn't part of my plan to spend my day with Daehyun and this random girl. But Yongguk insisted that I join them.
Hyeri excused herself to go get changed upstairs and quickly came back down in a light pink dress.
I glared at her for dressing up so much just to hang out. I was just wearing denim shorts and a black shirt. If I knew I had to compete with someone today, I would have worn something nicer.
The four of us walked down to Hongdae, but Yongguk and Hyeri walked side by side, forcing me to walk next to Daehyun.
Suddenly Daehyun and Hyeri were side tracked by some dogs passing by, so I took this opportunity to get some answers from Yongguk.
"So who is she?"
"Hyeri? She's my cousin. She lives with her family in Taiwan."
I blew out a sigh of relief. How silly of me to be jealous of Yongguk's cousin. Scratch that. I wasn't jealous.
"She's staying with me for a few days before she travels to New Zealand."
"Oh," I made a face, "You're going to be living together."
Yongguk tilted his head, "Um...is that a problem?"
I snapped my head up and shook it side to side, "No of course not. I mean, she's just your cousin anyway."
"Well," his voice started to waver and I didn't like the sound of that. "She's not actually my cousin. Our parents have just known each other for so long that we call each other cousins."
Ok that made me annoyed again.
So they're not related and they're going to be living together for a few days and she's going to be strutting around his house wearing nothing but long t-shirts.
[3rd Person]
Daehyun and Hyeri were finally done fangirling over the dogs they saw on the street and continued to walk with each other to who knows where.
"Ah! Yongguk! Let's go in here, we used to love this place when we were little," Hyeri pointed to the Petite Cakes shop and ran in like a little kid.
Yongguk and Daehyun laughed at her cuteness, but Jieun just crossed her arms. Hyeri wanted Yongguk to sit next to her, so once again, Jieun was paired with Daehyun.
"Why don't we get the strawberry shortcake? We can share," Hyeri suggested to Yongguk. He nodded along.
Jieun unknowingly kept stabbing her spoon into her parfait as she watched the two people in front of her.
They weren't feeding each other, thankfully, but they were still sharing a cake.
"So Hyeri, you and Yongguk have known each other for a really long time?" Daehyun asked.
"Mhm! We were so close. We're still really close. Every time I travel, I always send him a souvenir and a post card, and he will write back."
"Ah, so cute." Daehyun said to himself, but Jieun clearly heard him and rolled her eyes. "Sooo do you have a boyfriend?"
Hyeri just laughed while Yongguk glared, "Hey, don't get any ideas, Daehyun."
"No need to get jealous. I'm just asking for...conversation purposes." Daehyun out his hands up in defense. Jieun frowned at Yongguk's reaction.
'Why is he acting all protective?' Jieun thought.
"Hyeri, you don't need to associate yourself with someone like Daehyun." Yongguk informed.
The girl gave a sweet eye smile, "Yongguk, has always been looking after me since we were young."
The statement wouldn't have annoyed Jieun so much if Hyeri didn't link her arm with Yongguk again. She could have just kept her hands to herself.
