Chapter 2

Waking up in a cold sweat, my racing heart and untangled my sweaty body from my vine like sheets, before making my way to my grotty small bathroom.

"Ew", I stated, disgusted with my horrific appearance in the mirror. My blonde hair was tangled into endless knots that successfully formed a bird's nest on top of my head, while my hazel grey eyes stared back at me wide-eyed, with dark circles beneath them. Groaning softly, I splashed my face with freezing cold water, that I was sure that could give anybody hyperthermia, and brushed my teeth.

Making my way slowly down the stair case, I made a beeline for the refrigerator and poured myself a refreshing glass of water. Bowing my head over the sink, I closed my eyes softly.

I was sick.

No, not physically sick, no, but mentally sick. I was sick of running. I was sick of hiding in the shadows, just waiting for me to just slip up or make the wrong move, and them then find me.

"Why me?", I groan out loud, it just wasn't fair that I had to put up with everything happening to me, like come on I was only eighteen for goodness sakes! I shouldn't have to spend my life hiding away like a mouse from its predator. The "Unknown" association were greedy. They wanted my powers; they wanted my everything; it just all made me disgusted. I was a hybrid - a mix between each and every mythical creature on this earth, which I don't fully yet understand as to how I was just born with all the powers of all living creatures on earth? But I remember I was once told by my grandma that it was in my DNA and that it was a special gift only given to a few, and that's what made my stomach drop.

My kind have been wiped out. Why this you might say? Well it's as simple as pie, the association I'm running from brutally killed them without a second thought and are now at on the search for me, and this is what scares the living daylights out of my entire existence.

Putting my cup aside, I raced up the stairs, skipping two at a time until I was faced with my wooden bedroom door. Clicking my tongue out of sheer boredom, I twisted the rusty metal knob on the door, and made my way inside my room to my small backpack. I know it was pretty pathetic that I kept my clothes and all my belongings inside one tiny small little bag that I carried everywhere with me, but then again it was for the best. Changing into a well fitted grey top and skin tight black leggings, I throw my leather jacket over the top with my backpack in tow, and made my way to the receptionist that was in charge of this dirty motel, to pay my rent.

"This couldn't get any better", I muttered dryly under my breath, making sure the receptionist hadn't caught my words, I shuffled  through my wallet and  quickly chucked a fifty-dollar bill in her direction, not even bothering to glance back to see if she caught it and swiftly walked out. I suddenly felt bad, bad for using my grandma's savings even though she was dead and gave me permission, because to me it was still her money, right? And I had no right what so ever to be using it.

Where off to now? Another rotten motel room? I thought sarcastically to myself, despite that my high chances would most likely fall in that category. Who am I even kidding? I'm legally classed as a gipsy or homeless person anyways, as I don't have a stable house to live in. I sighed, again.

As soon as the sigh left my parted lips, a water drop fell on the tip of my nose, making me scrunch me face up at its icy touch. Continuing down the cracked sidewalk, my breath hitched in my throat as more rain drops continued to plummet onto me, one after the other, rapidly increasing in numbers, and before I knew it, it was storming.

"Great", I hissed beneath my breath, as I picked up my pace from a walk to a slow jog on the side walk. This always happened to me, I was always the one that seemed to get served the worlds hollow and cruel side, and why? I don't know.

The sound of water splashing on the road startled me, and I quickly whipped my head around to the source of noise. A car, great. Just like I need someone to see me, I thought sarcastically.

"Hey, you there, do you need a lift?", a feminine voice spoke, generally concerned.

Squinting my eyes to get a better view of the girl in the driver's seat, I quickly replied "Stranger danger", as I continued to hobble my way up the path.

"What? you would rather stay out in the rain? You're an odd one aren't you", she happily sang, as she continued to slowly stalk me with her car.

"Well you're a pesky one aren't you?", I replied in a mocking tone, irritated that this girl would just not leave me alone, and I know I was being extremely rude and unfair to her, but it's just easier keeping people out of my life.

"Mmhmm feisty I see, just let me drive you to where you are headed and I will bid you goodbye", she persisted, as I grew increasingly bored of the conversation.

"You can't"

"I can't what?"

"Drive me to where I need to go"

"And why is that?"

I whipped my head around to glare at her, my anger suddenly reaching its spike with this annoying redhead.

"You don't even know me", I stated bluntly, trying to change the subject.

"So? I'm just trying to be a helpful citizen", she said, looking taken back as if I had said something completely outrageous. Well no, love, you aren't being helpful at all, you are being an annoying and delusional citizen.

"Whatever", was my lame response, barely audible over the deafening thunder crack.

"Just let me help you, please?", she barely whispered, much softer to her happy attitude not long before.

"Fine", I grumbled, knowing we were getting nowhere with this argument.

What was I exactly doing? Oh thats right! Letting someone into my life, something that I swore never to do! oh cut it out Rosalyn! She is only giving you a quick drive and then you will never have to see her again. Yeah,it will be alright, I thought, trying to reassure myself. After a few awkward minutes of not saying anything aloud, I finally built up enough courage to open the passenger door on her black porch.

"Ha-ha, she has finally arrived!", she excitedly announced, earning an eye roll from me.

"Yeah, okay, whatever", I confidently stated, as my lips twitched up into a small smile while slipping into the leather seat.

Well this was going to be enjoyable. Not.
