Prologue Wet nose, bright eyes, high spirits. The crisp autumn winds stirring up leaves and ruffling coats. Excited yips and plentiful barks and playful nips to auds and scruffs. The refreshing sound of pups wrestling and playing, all the while the humbled and proud adults watch over with gentle smiles and kind eyes. This is what surrounded the small runt in her early weeks of life. Happiness and fun. Security and a sense of belonging.
"Small, catch up will ya?!" A rather boisterous male pup barked behind him to the onyx runt.
"I'm-I'm coming!" She panted, her smaller legs seemingly useless in comparison to her older siblings longer and more developed limbs and muscles. She pounded her tiny paws harder into the ground below, trying to find a little extra leverage for a chance to speed up with her brothers and sisters, whom of which were laughing and bumping into each other a good 4 yards ahead. Her auds pinned against her head and she sighed, slowing down to a stop with heaving sides and discouraged amber optics. Her head lowering as her spirits nearly crumbled, she began to turn around and head back toward the burrows when she was suddenly grabbed by her scruff and tossed into the air.
"Aahh!" She exclaimed as she landed on a very large, and very white back. Her tiny auds perked and she tilted her head, before her entire expression lit up and she laughed; biting at and tugging the left auds of the Alpha below, her father Amkin.
A deep, rolling laugh escaping his wide chest, he tugged his aud free and glanced up at his ebony daughter,
"Say, why don't we give those chumps a big surprise, eh?" He grinned, which earned a very enthusiastic nod from the pup.
Rearing back slightly, Amkin leapt forward toward the other pups, the bouncing motion caused Small to be jostled around on his back. Though Small could care less as shrill laughs and giggles escaped her as she held onto her rambunctious father. "Oh no! Here comes the /mighty/ Alpha, running toward the small and helpless pups! What ever are they going to do against his sheer size and /charming/ looks?" Amkin barked out playfully as he approached, puffing out his chest for emphasis to his words, which earned giggles from the whole lot of pups.
"Oh no! Not the Alpha! /His breath stinks!" Teased a little blonde she-pup with a wide smile and bubbly giggle. Though as she said that, she hid behind a larger brother of hers, small banner wagging in the air."Stinky breath? Thats still better than being tiny pups! This Alpha is going to kick your tails!" Small boasted with wide grin, growling playfully atop her fathers back.
