We write stories not only quench our inner thirst but also so when people read our stories, they feel a connection. We don't only write for the sake of spilling words on a paper, we write to change lives.
But is what we're putting so much of our hard work into any different than other millions and millions of stories flooding the world? Is our story strong enough to leave a lasting impression on someone's life? It is real and original enough for someone to relate to it? And most importantly, how is it influencing the new generation of readers?
You must've read stories with perfect characters; a golden boy with washboard abs, a charming girl with the bluest of eyes. Stories where the princess always gets a prince, where there's always a quarterback for a nerd, a bad boy for a good girl, a sexy CEO for a damsel employee.
You must've come across plots where the girl has a crush on the hottest guy but damn the guy already has a super annoying cheerleader girlfriend and then her starts to like the good ol innocent girl because she's super cute and pure and then he ditches the cheerleader for her because she suddenly became satan from the fiery pits of helland and lalalala happy ending!
Yeah, those are fine. But they're fine and cliché.
And there's a whole tonne of the same characters and plots in books these days.
Also, most of them do not have a writing style at all, these stories survive on describing things as they are.
Where's the creativity? Where's the originality? Where's the realism?
But what about stories out of this box of clichés and perfection? What about the stories of imperfect people? Imperfect lives? Where a strong male gets an equally strong female, where the dumped cheerleader finds herself a nerd, where an innocent girl falls for a shy boy because Let's be honest, not all bad boys have painful secrets which will get them sympathy, some of them just are that bad.
Here's where we come in to Break the Cliches! To promote some untold, imperfect, original stories with fresh characters and plots for you to read and provide some food to the reader souls out here on Wattpad who are tireless looking for something different, something refreshing, something new!
