I seemed to wake with a start every morning. After being at Hogwarts for a few months, I began to hang out with Harry, Ron and Hermione. My parents sent a letter by owl post saying that they couldn't do anything for Christmas. No presents, no visiting, no food. I'd be stuck here. I made my way down to the common room not even bothering to see who was there. The clock read 3:27 AM and I couldn't fall back to sleep. I sat on the couch with my knees tucked to the side.
"C'mon.. No one should be awake now, Fred!" whispered a certain Weasley.
"I beg to differ," Fred said quietly, pointing to my form sitting on the couch.
"Mornin' boys!" I chuckled as quietly as possible.
"What're you up for?" asked George as Fred took a seat beside me on the couch.
"Can't sleep, you?"
"Classified Weasley Business," they both replied at once. I became more than welcome in their duo. We became the Mischievous Trio of Gryffindor. Although, I had to do my best to avoid any run-ins with professors and Mr. Filch. I felt bad because I would always run away, whereas the twins would stay behind and swear up, down, left and right that I never had anything to do with it. They were my true friends yet I was a coward.
"You'll get in trouble if you go this time," Fred advised with an air of worry.
"You two always take the blame. I'm tired of running away!" I replied as I took a bite of a sandwich.
"But you were worse off than we are," Fred said, "No offense." I shook my head. "We can handle our mother's wrath. We don't want you to get expelled."
"But look how many times you get caught. You've never been expelled.." I mumbled. They really were just trying to look out for me. I continued our normal routine, lunch and afterwards, Transfiguration with McGonagall. We finished our lunch and continued down the hall. When we got to class, McGonagall seemed more on edge than ever. The holidays were fast approaching. While everyone else's spirits were up, mine had basically disappeared.
I stayed near the Quidditch pitch after all of the lessons of the day were finished. I got to watch my favorite people of my house doing the thing they loved. Fred and George were beaters. They flew around with heavy bats to defend the team against giant flying balls called Bludgers. Harry, although being a first year, became Gryffindor seeker by referral of Professor McGonagall.
"Why are you watching this?" asked a lanky blonde as he sat beside me.
"Because, Malfoy, it's entertaining to watch them practice," I replied curtly. He gave a scowl to Harry and then accused me of liking him.
"To watch them or to watch Potter?" he said as distastefully as I knew him to be. He had always held a grudge against Harry, but for what reason I would never know. His two followers, so to speak, Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle, approached and sat in the row behind us. "Do you two have to follow me everywhere?! Honestly.." Malfoy complained, standing up and walking away. They went to follow him but decided against it due to his last statement. So, instead, they sat there and basically spied on me.
"What business do you have with Malfoy anyways?" Crabbe asked suspiciously.
"I don't have time to deal with you two wanna-be's. I have some friends I need to meet up with," I scoffed and headed down to the center of the pitch, watching as the Weasleys hit the ground. They greeted me with open arms, which I ran into and then teased them. "You two are stinky," I giggled and stuck out my tongue. Fred gave me a playful shove.
We went back the Gryffindor common room where I taught them how to play a muggle board game called Clue. We played well past the curfew, to which their older brother Percy, a prefect, refused to allow. He demanded that we go to bed at once. Then he scolded them for keeping a girl up past curfew. He kept saying something about it being ungentlemanly. I giggled and made my way up to my dorm. I couldn't fall asleep, knowing that everyone that was leaving Hogwarts for the holidays would be gone tomorrow, and I would not be among them.
