Dang, food was delicious!
Terry took another huge bite out of his cheeseburger. Lydia was across from him, eating the same thing, while Pyra ate happily on the table, her bowl of Pokémon food almost empty. He was always a fan of the food they served in Pokémon centers, and Oldale was no exception.
“You know, I think these country people add something to their food to make it more delicious,” Terry said to Lydia, staring pointedly at his burger, “We should investigate. Could be Miltank.”
Lydia stared at Terry in shock. She stared down at her food, then back to Terry.
“I’m never eating meat again.”
They shared a laugh, and continued their meal, and Pyra smiled wide up at them. Terry was glad for the lunch stop in this town, but he was prepped and ready to go. He was gonna make it to Petalburg if it killed him. They had stayed the night here after their battle the day before (Lydia almost had to get him at knife-point to stay indoors), and Terry honestly felt edgy. Small towns bugged him in all kinds of ways. Too enamored with his food, he didn’t notice until she tapped him on the shoulder that Lydia had finished.
“You ready to head out?” Lydia held out a hand with a smile. Terry grinned wide, and took her hand.

Lydia tossed her Pokéball up and down. Terry looked jealously at her.
“You really like doing that, don’t you.”
“Yeah!”
“I don’t like you,” Terry laughed, and mock-glared at his friend. She’d just caught a Poochyena, before which she caught a Wurmple. Terry didn’t feel like he would be much of a catcher, but he was a little jealous of her new friends. As she released her new members, the Poochyena instantly began glaring at Terry. Growling, it lowered its body, as if prepping for a fight. Pyra (who Terry had left out of her Pokéball) returned the stance, defending her master.
“Not one for comedians, is he?” Lydia grinned, and offered the dog some food. Little Pooch (as she was calling him for short) ate the food without looking away from Terry. After he ate, Lil Pooch jumped to resume his position in front of Terry. It was then that Lydia returned the small, black warrior.
“He doesn’t like you!” Lydia sang in a mocking tone. She laughed and skipped over to Terry, grinning wide.
“You probably smell bad. Did you take a shower at the Pokémon Center? Probably.” She sniffed Terry’s arm, reeled back in mock disgust, laughed, and then linked arms with Terry. Terry gave her a squint.
“You sure are something.”
SNAP!
Terry looked over to the source of the sound, and saw a Ralts fall out of a bush, hitting the ground with a harsh thud. It had all manner of cuts and bruises on its little body. Terry and Lydia ran towards it, with Pyra making some terrified sounds. Pyra propped up the little Ralts, who, as they got closer, they found was bleeding from a gash in its side. Lydia looked to the Ralts, and then turned to Terry.
“We gotta get this thing to the Center. Now.”
