Bree's POV*

"We're back!" I called. We'd been gone for about 3 hours, talking to Ben. I never learned who his parents were, I on the other hand was an open book.

"Where were you girls?" My dad said as he stepped into the room. (Or should I say floated?)

I glanced at Anna nervously. "Uh..."

"Flame Kingdom, we talked Flamba and other Flame people."

"Okay." He nodded and went back into the kitchen. The thing about my parents is they don't ask too many questions. At times like this, I like that.

"Close one." I said as I wiped the imaginary sweat off my forehead.

"Especially when you look flustered..."

"Hey, I've never had to lie to my parents!"

"Well I have and it's easy."

I told my eyes. Just then my phone buzzed. I pulled it out of my pocket, it was a text from Ben.

Ben: You still meeting me tomorrow at 2:00?

Me: Yes.

Ben: ok, see you then.

I didn't bother to text back after that. When I looked up Anna was smiling at me like an idiot.

"What?" I asked.

"You like him!"

"Do not!"

She stared at me with the same stupid grin as before, her eyebrows wiggling up and down before I finally cracked.

"Maybe I think he's cute..."

"Hah! Yes!" She threw her fist in the air. "I'M THE CHAMPION!"

"Shut up!" I slapped my hand over her mouth as she continued to dance around the room like a crazy person. She licked my hand causing me to jump back. "Ew!"

She laughed. "Shouldn't have done that."

I wiped my hand off, using her arm like a towel as Damion, Jack and Axel walked in. "Okay, what did you really do?"

"Nothing!" Anna said a bit too quickly.

"You guys went to the Candy Kingdom, didn't you?" Jack accused.

I gave them a fake confused look. "Whaaaaat? No we didn't...." my tone changed, letting them know I was lying.

"You did!" Damion glared. "Both of our parents don't want us to go there, something about some crazy ex-ruler and his wife."

"I know the whole story." Jack piped up.

Everyone turned to him in shock.

"Really?" Axel asked, clearly surprised by the fact our quiet cousin knew.

''Yeah, my dad was talking about it with Uncle Marsh, I heard the whole thing."

"Well spill!" I said, interested about the Candy Kingdom's past.

"So apparently, long before we were born, the old ruler, Prince Gumball, had a crush on your mom, he took it too far even after your parents started dating and he did some crazy stuff, he even kidnapped you and used you as ransom to get your mom to marry him. He did get thrown in jail but then he got out, now he lives just outside the castle, he's married to your dad's crazy ex."

We all hovered in the living room silently for a moment before Axel spoke up.

"I have to see that guy."

"Are you crazy?" Anna looked at him like he was in fact, crazy.

"Not meet him, just see him, like a picture."

"Well," I cracked my knuckles. "time for some research."

"I found something!" Jack called.

"Sssshhhhuuuuussshhh..." Turtle Queen said, holding her bony finger in front of her mouth.

"Sorry." Jack whispered as he waved me over to his table. "Check this out, this is him!"

I looked at the picture, it was an old news paper article. There was a picture of a tall pink dude, with pink hair and a pink fancy outfit. Too much pink. Next to him was a blond girl, she had blue eyes and wore a light blue shirt, dark blue skirt, long white knee high socks, black flats and a bunny hat. Both were smiling happily, the blond had a sword in her hand. I read the caption, 'Hero Saves The Day, Again'. The girl in the picture looked familiar.

I had a sudden realization of who the girl was. "Mom!"

"Ssshhhuuuussshh" Turtle Queen said again, glaring this time.

"Sorry" I whispered, then continuing to look at the paper spread out on the wooden table. "This is my mom..." I searched the paper, looking for something I wasn't aware of.

"Look at this." He pulled out another new paper article.There stood the same smiling blond, this time a dead bear next to her with a sword stabbed into the back. From the background you could tell she was in the Fluffy Kingdom. This caption read 'Human Saves the Day Again!'.

He continued to pull out more. There was one that had my dad on the front too, they stood on a stage, Aunt Cake with them, mom's hair was out and dad was dancing with Cake, (who was shaped like my mom) as it appeared mom was singing.

On another it was a picture of my mom and dad, and was a vampire in this one, holding me and my brother, we looked like we were still babies, only a few months. Mom was leaning her head on dad's shoulder, both smiling. The picture next to it showed banana hair guards carrying the pink prince. The caption read, 'Leader Shows True Colors, Thanks To a Few Hero's'.

I waved the others over and had them look at it. All read silently and finished at about the same time.

"Bree..." Anna sounded worried.

"What?" I asked, concerned.

"This guy," SHe pointed to the Gumball guy. "he kinda looks like Ben." 

I looked back at the picture. Scary thing? He did.
