Mason POV
"I'm tired of this. I want to get out of here, and I don't want to die. I'll drink- and I want her," Christian said, nodding towards Rose. I couldn't believe my ears.
"You piece of shit! Don't touch her. Don't you dare touch her!" I hissed, pulling against my restraints.
"Should we get Isiah?" one of the guards asked. No. No. This couldn't be happening. I glanced between the guards, not really hearing anything, the blood was pounding in my ears. Not Rose. I noticed the guards heading towards Christian. I heard the sound of plastic popping as the flex-cuffs gave way. I let out a frustrated growl as they lifted Christian up and led him over to Rose.
"Christian," I hissed, struggling in my chair. I could feel the chair moving beneath me. But, I just couldn't break free. "Are you out of your mind? Don't let them do this!" I pleaded. Not Rose. Just...not Rose
"You guys have to die, but I don't," he snapped, tossing his hair out of his eyes. "There no other way out of this."
"Christian, don't do this," Rose pleaded. I tried to swallow the lump in my throat. She was scared. The thought killed me. Rose wasn't supposed to be scared of anything. I watched in horror as the two exchanged words. I rocked in my chair. He wouldn't do it. He wouldn't. Then I heard it. The sound of Rose wincing in pain. I leaned forward in my chair and let out a groan, trying to break free from my grips. I could hear Mia sobbing next to me and I tried to drown out the noise, focusing on the pair.
Something wasn't right about the 'feeding' and I was pretty sure I could smell...burning plastic?
I realized what was going on just about the same time that the guards did, but Rose was already moving. She was a force to be reckoned with. As I'm sure the guard realized when she jammed his pliers into his face. I watched in awe as she sprung into battle.
People claimed that Dimitri was a god, but no one seemed to realize that Rose was a goddess. The way she moved. It was flawless. You could tell that she was made for this, born for this. I fought against my restraints, giving Christian a thankful look when I finally broke free. I brought my hands together, swinging them down as hard as I could on top of the leader's head. I hovered over the body, making sure the guy was definitely out. I glanced at Rose, waiting for her next move. She glanced around the room and pulled a face when she noticed Christian.
"Holy shit, give me that before you hurt someone," Rose said, holding out her hand for the gun.
"Mase, get the cuffs," she said. I nodded and moved towards the box, not daring to turn my back on the group before me. I pulled out three flexi-cuffs and my eyes caught sight of the duct tape. I held it up and glanced questioningly at Rose who nodded.
"Perfect," she said. I moved towards her, helping her bind our captors. I couldn't resist using the heel of my foot to make sure the conscious guy was knocked out. Rose shook her head and stuck the duct tape over all of their mouths. I worked quickly to free Mia and Eddie in case they came back.
I remember how cocky I had been. Trying to show off in front of Rose earlier in the day. She had been right of course. We weren't ready to face Strigoi. The only one who was even close to ready was Rose and even then...I wasn't sure she stood a chance.
"That guys watch says it's morning," I told her, gesturing to the guy she had stabbed. "All we've got to do is get outside, and they can't touch us. As long as there are no more humans, at least..."
"They said Isaiah was gone. We should just be able to leave, right?" Mia asked in a small voice. Rose shook her head and eyed me pointedly. I knew what it meant we have to be prepared for anything.
